we are rolling in late tuesday night, might be taking off tonight as we have a storm moving in here and leaving early AM might not happen.

Has anyone thought about the HUGE avy danger lurking in Cooke right now?
Where is the race hill and will it be safe? How about run out? The snow conditions are scaring the crap out of me right now and I don't want anymore people hurt or killed. I have rooms reserved, but I am having second thoughts about even being up there with conditions the way they are.

It's the backside of Daisy Pass(?) Whichever the one on the west is. Not the one by the old cabin.

nope, not that hill scott... that was a few years ago and it slid... no more racing there!

its a smaller hill back by round lake... not very steep 3/4s of the way but the top steepens a bit. there is ALOT of run out, actually a big meadow/valley/opening that is very open and safe, but the avy danger is so high its scary none the less.

to make matters worse i've been watching the conditions the last few weeks and everything that has been sliding has been southeast facing slopes which the race hill is. we'll have to see what everyone thinks when we get out there but if it doesnt happen makes no difference to me, 3-4ft of powder to play in on the lakes and meadows, lots of trees... i'm game!!!!!

leaving in 2 hours here... sounds like some nasty storms on the way so its going to take us all of a day to get out there!

It's front row and center in my mind right now. Talked to h2otoyz this morning and we've given each other orders to beat each other senseless if we even look at a hill.

At the same time though, I'll put money on some idiot-stick from another group getting buried. You see it all the time on the same hills around Cooke. Everyone knows they slide. Sure enough, some donkey nutz will be pounding it.

Last year we packed the lanes by riding up the side and coming down the race hill. The snow was in a lot better condition last year, but as many experienced guys around up there I think we can have a good enough judgement. It a bad year, but no matter if youre hillclimbing or bombing through the bottoms its a good f-in time. I'm heading down tomorrow, see you guys in the Minors!!

Weve been getting lots of snow and wind. Last night was super windy. Be careful on the slopes out there today. We stuck to the trees and small wooded climbs and it was MORE than enough yesterday.

I went up to the race hill today to check it out and the snow was set up pretty good. shouldn't be any problems with slides there, but it is snowing and blowing right now.
