Cooke City Dec 27 & 28, 2012

My brother-in-law and I have a trip planned to Cooke City Dec 27-29, 2012. We have never been to Cooke City before, and were looking for someone that might be willing to let us join their group for a day to learn the area, or at least point us in the right direction. Any help would be appreciated. Planning to drive up from Gillette WY on the 26th.

Nebs:

Are you going to park in the parking lot and ride in or are you going to drive all the way around?

If you ride in, most of the riding is off to the right as you leave the parking lot, all the way to Town. There are groomed feeder trails to the right. Just follow those trails and jump off them.

Cooke is fairly compact, you cant get lost (well almost cant get lost)

If you are going to park in the lot, do yourself a favor and get a good tub style "pull behind". I think it is something like 12-14 miles or so from the parking lot to town on a groomed road.

Sucks having a duffel bag and all the rest of your stuff in your lap, or have to make several trips......

You will have a blast........

Make sure you stop at Bearclaw Bobs for breakfast and have some of their awesome bakery items.

Just seems farther through all the whoops! Pretty easy to find you way around Cooke, you're surrounded by boundry signs!
