converting 05 to 10 plastic

I want to update my front end to the 2010 . Where is the best place to buy the kit and also i am running slp pipe , can , slp air box . Well i have to change to a different air box or will the slp still work . I am also running holz front end without sway bar . 05 polaris 900 151 track . Any help would be great want to start summer project soon . Also thinking about finding a 155 or 163 suspension to put under it . If anyone has any idles about let me know . Thanks

Timbersled Mtn Tamer with 163" skid :)

you might have to extend the tunnel when going that long, not sure though.

the plastic is SUPER easy to install, just got out a different exhaust outlet and cover the factory hole..and i drilled a few extra holes underneath to put in more rivots..

get the kit from Curt at Fastrax Motorsports in Washington...he is the best guy bar none to get the kit through...(BUT...if you get it from him, it will not include a stock 09-up bumper, you will have to get a skinz one, or order a stock one from polaris)

you CANNOT use your SLP intake...its junk anyways IMHO...get the Timbersled intake, OR even better get a FNI intake..but either way, you will have to get a stock boost box since your SLP mad eyou hack it up, ( i knw where a few are if your interested)

good luck, you will more then happy with the 09-up front end...SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO much nicer ;)

If you get the plastics from Curt, you can also get the Cobe front bumper... I like mine, plowed trees all year with it :) I modified my SLP and made it work... don't ask how and I wouldn't reccomend it. It worked for me this year, but I'm scrapping it for next season. As far as the new suspension goes, I will also be going with a timbersled rear skid, and I already have a set of new 163" rails and track from a '10 sled. You will want to get some Avid drivers and an antistab kit to go along with it. If your wanting an all out project, look at upgrading your tunnel to something like a Vanamburg tunnel, you will drop some serious weight, improve overall structure, and they are just all in all kicka$$!

Thanks for the input . I thought that i had read somewhere about the slp air box not working . quido where can i get a boost box . I may be coming up your way soon for my sons football game aaa ball and would love to stop bye and check out your sled . That is one of the best looking nines i have seen .

I'm doing mine this summer too, along with a bunch of other mods. Let me know if I can help. I ordered a CoBe rear bumper as well as the front to go with the 09 plastics kit.
If it can be done to a 900, the guys in here have done it. I'll be asking alot of questions all summer.

I have an extra brand new kit that I would sell for $400 + shipping (only ship to the USA).

PM me if you are interested.

Can one still use the stock airbox that came on the 05 RMK 900 with the 010 plastic?

yes you can, but it will hit the fender by the shock tower and sit crooked...and it would of coarse need to be gutted to flow correctly, but its not worth the weight, size and hideousness of that beast, lol..

save up and get a FNI intake...MUCH better, light, flows great and looks a little better, lol..

How about using the treedog bumper with the 09 front end? Will it work? Also, the new 09 kit doesn't come with new side panels??

nope...the way toby's bumper mounts there is nothing on the 09 that would mount like it does not..

you can use the stock 09 bumper and take out smaller trees, but the other "similar" design to the treedog bumper for the 09-up plastic is the new FNI bumper support or the Tri-City Polaris bumper...

or get the Skinz, or Co-Be (;))

and no, the 09 plastic does not come with side panels or hood, just the fenders and nose pan, 09 bumper and hardware...

good luck

SLP intake

Where does my SLP intake get its air from? When on trails in front below the bumper, but what happens when the front is playing submarine in powder?

If I swap for a fire'n'ice etc, I get an airbox above the drivebelt like stock that get air from the duct in the hood?

Will changing intake affect the engines airflow and require remapping?

Its probably been asked and answered a ton times before, but browsing old threads on a phone SUX, so please bear with mefor asking :)

That is the biggest downfall of the SLP airbox, it suffers under heavy powder riding.

With the fire-n-ice, it acts the same as stock in drawing air from behind the headlight. It also uses a belt guard to protect the airbox. Changing the airbox does affect airflow but not IMHO to need total remapping. If you have a better flowing exhaust AND a better intake then you may require a remap.

If you are needing any convincing to spring for the FNI, I and many others will very much recommend the FNI intake.

TCP AIR BOX AND 09 FRONT END

I think it's been said in another post, but how is the tcp air box not compatable with the new 09 front end. Looking at it all, I don't see any clearance issues. Has anybody tried this combo??

I've never had any real problems in pow, you just have to clear out the front grill a few times. The biggest problem with the slp airbox, and how it attaches to the modified boost box, is it draws in belt dust. It's virtually impossible to get a good seal. It's really a hokey setup. When you take it off, have a look on the inside of your throttle bodies, they will be full of belt dust!! Lame.
