compression test help

can any one tell me what a 08 700 should get on a compression test. I know gauges can read different, but i have hard it should be like around 120. I am using just a tester from napa and i get 112 in both sides. this should be ok, right?? thanks in advance for any help.

Thanks for the info, guys:face-icon-small-hap I thought it should be ok, i was just a little worried because it was only 112 but they a both identical and it still feels the same pulling it over.(i know thats not a real good thing to go by) I just wanted to get that out of the way before i go diving into all the electrical and fuel systems!! Thanks again!

PS- this test is also on a clod engine (sadly because i can't get it to run!!!!)

You want similar cylinders more than anything. Any difference of more than I think 5% is bad.

Elevation will change these readings. Take one at sea level and take one at 10k' and they will be VERY different.

Agreed. I took my compression on my 08 Dragon that has only 200 mile on the 2010 update and it was 92 each side. I about died because the pistons look good. I thought I was going to have to install a new top end. I got all freaked out even thought it runs fine. Couple of issues here. I live at 5000', which will effect the reading. Outside temp and pressure will effect it also. Also, it was a harbor freight tester so who knows if it was accurate. They were both the same and that's whats important is what I was told.

i tested mine last night on my D8 and got 90 on both sides at about 3500 feet...i freaked and pulled the exhaust valves and checked out pistons ect and it all looked fine...turns out when you do a comp. test on a 2stroke you have to hold the throttle WOT to let in air to get a true reading. but as long as they read the same or close your probably good.

If you have the 800 with the updated head you will get lower readings (like 90's) as it's a low comp head.

thanks to everybody for all the info, i feel much better now! I guess i will start diving into fuel and electrical and see if i can find whats holding me up. Sounds like so much fun, yeah!!
