Complete rock albums - a lost art?

In this day and age of downloads, are we destined to only see one hit wonders anymore? What happened to buying an album that was good from start to finish - like Pink Floyd "The Wall" or ACDC "Back in Black"

What are some of your favorites?

I try to buy albums so I have a physical chunk of the music in my hand so to speak.

Some of my faves:

Texas Flood- Stevie Ray Vaughn
Master of Puppets-Metallica
Straight to Hell- Hank III
New Found Power- Damageplan
Vulgar Display of Power- Pantera

I "gifted" Boston-Boston last week to my 12 year old son via iTunes. The best way I have found to relive my music history and give him some "culture"?

Also have shown him Rush, AC/DC, Iron Maiden the same way. He discovered Metalica, Megadeth, Dio and such from my old CD's. He didn't care for my REO and Journey vinyl though.. go figure.

the new metallica album rocks, but yeah, nobody listens to a whole album anymore, thats why i still buy cd's and listen to em straight through, you learn to like more than just mainstream music.

i can listen to all my metallica straight through 8 albums every song, takes a day to get it done, but i do it anyways.

I do the same, listen to the whole CD all the way through a few times and you start to like a lot of the songs that you would never hear on the radio. I use to love the old music that would take you on a journey through the albums. Rush, & Pink Floyd to name a few. I love it when my boys go through all the old stuff and they are amassed. :D

thats what got me hooked on older music, rocked out to my dads Guns N' Roses and then realized what real music was, im not a somebody who skips around on i-tunes allot, the play count is almost identical on every song on an album.

MOST of my favorite songs are ones you'd never hear on the radio.

A few of my favorites......
Pink Floyd "Animals"
Alice Cooper "Love it to Death"
Diesel "Watts in a Tank" (Does anyone else remember that one?)
3 Days Grace "One X"
Breaking Benjamin "Phobia"

A few of my top albums. In no particular Order

1. Norma Jean - Redeemer
2. Bane - The Note
3. Marilyn Manson - Lest we Forget
4. Mudvayne - LD50
5. Tool - Aenema

I got one for you.

Try "Angel City" the band, and the album was "Face to Face". Every tune was a good one all the way through.

Give me a green dot if I'm cool.

Buckcherry's album was pretty good throughout (I thought). And the new AC/DC is good. I'm really going to show my age but, my favorite of all time was Van Halen I, Eddie can do some amazing things with a guitar!
