Travel Management planning
The Shoshone National Forest began the Travel Management planning process in June 2015. This process will designate a sustainable system of roads, trails, and areas that are open for motor vehicle use with public involvement. As a part of this process, the Shoshone National Forest is following the rules set forward in the 2005 Travel Management Rule.
Preliminary Environmental Assessment - released July 30, 2020
The Shoshone National Forest has completed an analysis of all past proposals and their impacts to forest resources. This analysis and any additional public input will inform the final determination of motorized use on roads, trails, and areas of the Shoshone National Forest. The Preliminary Environmental Assessment explains the impacts of these proposals to Shoshone National Forest resources and includes a budgetary assessment.
Comments on the Preliminary Environmental Assessment are due by September 28, 2020, and should be submitted in writing via one of the following means:
send an email to SM.FS.shonfcomment@usda.gov with “Shoshone NF Travel Management Planning Project” in the subject line or via regular mail to Mark Foster (Environmental Coordinator), Shoshone National Forest, 808 Meadow Lane Avenue, Cody, WY 82414
