comet clutch on 07 summit

I ran the Comet 109 (four post) and the 800r knocked out the inner bushing. It was just rattling around in there after two rides.
The 109 was better than the TRA because you didn't have as much trouble keeping the RPM in range. It also didn't blow any belts.
Still not worth the bother because it was not that much better than the TRA.
I'm still running the Polar primary because it REALLY pulls! Polar Motorsports has developed a fix for everything I have broken on their clutch and I have a fresh new primary to kill as soon as we have snow. The 800r is a brute when it is all hooked up, makes the guys on the 1k cats blink.
I bent, busted, ripped apart and worn out just about every component on the way, so the Polar is getting close now. It .. is ... a ... Blast! This one is worth it.

I also found the bushing to fail really quickly. One guy I know tried the Pol 85 clutch and the crank failed 500 miles. Related? who knows. The 800R engine appears to be a shaker. If the polar could hang in there it probably makes a lot of sense.

So have they got this figured out now on the xp's.it's still same clutch with the same motor.

I've ran a comet clutch on a 670, biggest freaken paper weight l've ever had. 2 weekends on it and it sheared in half. Friend had one for one day on a mountain max and it blew up and went out his belly pan and shattered his secondary.

One thing about the TRA, they they doo last longer. Too bad they just heat up and are so costly to run. Everyone winds up with a box of springs, shims, pucks, rollers, ramps and garbage can full of belts. But that TRA just won't break.

Good beer clutch for when you have nothing else to run. Take lots of beer, save the belt and relax, you aren't going to make any marks today.
