colorado

I need some hep on where to go in Colorado to go riding. Im not to much into climbing just want some snow to ride in. Also this would be a honeymoon for use as well so maybe a nice place with alot to do would work. Thanks

Glenwood Springs is a great place. Great riding ( Flat Tops, Four Mile ) are really close, and you have the hot springs pool to soak in when you get done at the end of the day.

Steamboat Springs---full service with excellent honeymoon things to do, then load up and ride Rabbit Ears just 1/2 hr away.

Grand Lake has an excellent trail system with off trail riding to fit all abilities. You can't get lost in GL.

Vail is not a sled friendly town but the riding is great on the pass--bring lots of $$$$.

The city of Glenwood is super except the trail heads are about an hour away (Rifle and New Castle)

If you're looking for something less commercial...

Wolf Creek (CO) & Chama (NM) is great riding...stay at one of the B&B's in South Fork, CO. Hot springs all over.

I have never been anywhere out west except for last year we went to the horns around xmas. I just dont know where to go the wife wants to go to Colorado. It would be nice to find some other people that would be willing to show us around. ;)

If you want lots of restaurants/shopping/ski areas, etc... Stay in Summit County (near Breckenridge), and you can ride Rabbit Ears, Vail Pass, Winter Park, etc....all within a short drive. www.summitdaily.com

If you want a smaller town - come out to Crested Butte, and there are several of us who would be glad to show you around. www.crestedbuttenews.com

If you want small, no commercial anything, but nice.. check out Wolf Creek and stay in South Fork. http://www.wolfcreekski.com/cabins-east.htm

Best of luck.
PM me if I can assist.

Grand Junction good shopping close to the Grand Mesa which also has the Spruce Lodge with cabins to rent.....

Where in north dakota are you from?

Yeah, there are a few of us ND natives here in Colorado. When are you coming out? If I'm around I can round up some help. If you're coming out President's Day weekend, join the SnoWest ride in Gunnison.

Couble on their honeymoon...on sleds.... and you are offering to be the upstanding snowmobile citizen to show them around.... Good for you... But I'm confused on the whole 'ride' and 'showing around'..... You can't tell me he hasn't already hit it and would still need the 'Grand Tour'.................but hey, git-r-done !!!!!

PS.. Gongrats on the Moon..... That's what I wanted to do on our Honeymoon... but no we went to NEW YORK CITY instead......

I like Grand Mesa, but you need to pack your own food and cook. If you go to Grand Lake, you can stay in town and eat there. The trail out of town gets bumpy, but for convenience and well marked trails, I'd say Grand Lake.

If you aren't set on Colorado, I've been to West Yellowstone and really liked it. Of course that was 7 or 8 years ago....

You should give us more information about your situation. For example, what is you riding experience, your wife? What kind of sleds do you have--do you need rentals? If your wife is inexperienced and has a flat land sled, you should think about someplace that is woman friendly like Steamboat or even Winter Park where you can luxurate in the hot springs/sauna, "cushy" kind of stuff. Colorado has only one ride in/out with any semblence of "cushy" and that is Grand Lake with Sulphur Hot Springs 1/2 hr. down the road.

Togwotee would be my choice with trips into Jackon Hole--but that's in Wyoming and you wife probably would'nt appreciate my riding style:D.
