Colorado vs. Utah riding (Fort Collins vs. Logan)

I will be getting out of the military and have the oppurtunity to either stay in Utah (Logan) area or move to Fort Collins. I was wondering if there was anyone out there who has ridden out of both areas? I know the Snowies and Cache Valley both show up on Snowest's top 15. Wondering if Im downgrading a bit too much if I relocate. Proximity, the people, the culture, and the riding all play a factor. Im 23 and from Wisconsin and will be finishing up college at either Utah State or Colorado State. Any imput is appreciated!!! Thanks!

If you want to sled move to Utah. You're going to be spending more hours in the truck than you are on the snow living anywhere on the front range of Colorado trying to sled from there quite frankly. At least such as been my experience moving from UT to CO 2 years ago.

If you want to meet chicks that don't ask you what ward you're in the second after they meet you, move to Colorado :)

With that said ;)

I absolutely loved living in Utah. Its a great place. You just have to understand that its Mormon culture out there, and you're either part of it or you're not. If you move there expecting the culture to be different than it is or change for you, you'll be miserable there. If you move there and just accept it for what it is, you'll have a great time living out there.

If you want all 3 ......

1. Great education...MSU is an awesome campus
2. Great riding...steep & deep 15 minutes to 45 minutes from campus. West Yellowstone 1 hour
3. Great social scene...awesome bar scene, live music & plenty of open minded woman.

Have a look at MSU in Bozeman Montana

Well, my decision came down to CSU at Fort Collins as I had originally thought it would. At one point I was ready to pull the trigger on Gunnison but I have a close friend, almost family, from back in Wisconsin that is movin out to Fort Collins for job relocation and I will be majorin in Mechanical Engineerig and CSUs engineering program is pretty decent for a public school. Kinda stinks I have to drive 2 plus hours toget to anywhere good in the snowies but its the price I'm gunna pay. Thanks for all the feedback. This forum did play a part in my decision. Also, if there is anyone that rides out of fort collins or in the snowies and would like to show me around this winter id be willing to throw in some gas and beer!! I wont know anyone that rides out there so I gatta start networking asap. I ride a 13 pro rmk, been in the mountains for 3 years, drink beer, and am up for a challenge. Dont wanna spend all winter tryin to go up by myself and finding randoms who will let me ride along for the day.

Since you're interested in engineering, Western was out of the running right off the bat. CSU will be a fun place and reputable academics for sure.

As for the riding, I ride with Shelby most days, so we'd end up riding together anyway. If he's not able to go there's a good chance I will be able to so just PM me on here when the snow starts flying. There's riding to be done in CO too, so make sure you get both state's stickers.

Wells. Circumstances have changed and I'm going to be moving up to Logan. The National Guard opourtunties in Utah line up with my career field and a good buddy of mine from the AF has just been accepted to USU and we are both majorig in Engineering. I know its been a while for this thread...just thought I'd update and give a thanks to all who posted one more time. Anyone in the Logan area who would like to ride just let me know!!

I'm in Malad, just over the border into Idaho. I'm always up for a ride. Franklin Basin, Tony's, Bloomington. We even head north once in a while to Island Park. PM me on here and I'll show you some of my favorite spots.
