I have asked Mike to send me a list of equipment that will be available after the show.

Just signed up me and 3 riding buddies for the Sunday class.
We're also thinking of getting beacons as a group too.....are all tranceivers the same? meaning do they all use the same ffrequency across brands, and the different brands can all work together. Or do you need everyone in your group to have the same exact brand?

You will have all the info you need to make your decisions by the end of the class ;)

From my experience, all beacons transmit the same. it would be silly to do it different. S&R does not know what beacon you are wearing but yet they can still find you, hopefully not too late.

All newer digital beacons are the same freq. no brand differentiation. and the digital beacons will pick up the old analog ones too. (and I'm not 100% sure about the other way around but I think the analogs will pick up the digital signal, just a different technology for processing the received signal.)

As for beacon choice look at them and try them out, find the EASIEST to use, not the most fancy. From what 99% of people say the easiest to use is the BCA Tracker.

The new Tracker 2 looks to be even easier and now faster tracking but it has yet to be released but they are now saying the biginning of OCT. Which I really hope is true so I can get one with the discount from Mikes class.

He won't have a table full of stuff for us to browse after the class. He will hand out vouchers

Correct, the transmitted "Ping" is the same from older beacons to the newer ones. Same frequency, pulse width, duty cycle, etc.

Difference between digital and analog bacons lies in the reciever. Digital beacons have a DSP and a few more antennas to process the signal and give you a more accurate (less brain-intensive) location. Analog ones demod the 457KHz carrier and route it out a speaker/earphone, the person using it would have to be familiar with flux lines and really know the beacon to get full use out of it.

If I'm buried, I'd want people hunting with digital beacons. Takes human error out of the beacon operation.

Here's the info for the class. I do not sell avalanche gear, but offer a discount coupon from a retailer for all those who take the class. It's an incentive to take an avalanche class and to get properly equipped (since only about 50% of riders carry beacons and even less have avalanche education). There will be gear on display at the class and I can hopefully answer your questions.
The course has been updated and upgraded with powerpoint, new videos, new techniques, more terrain analysis, new statistics, new avalanche gear, etc. Please email me if you have any questions: duffyww1@aol.com
