Colockum mission ridge area riding

Snotel is only in the 2' range. It's finally settled into a solid starting base, now we just need some snow. You won't be doing much climbing and playing yet, but there's enough to tour.

unloaded at reecer 12/29/2010 and rode wilson creek side could see mission from there. about 18" to 20" new. Good light to moderately wet snow but look out for a little slidey action. First time i have ever seen this up on reecer with a good base and a lot of new. had a friend stuck on a hill and we were pullin it around by the ski when a little fluff/slide rolled down below us. Just want everyone to be carefull and use your beacons, airbags, shovels, etc. and know how to correctly use them! could be a great but dangerous year. be safe out there.

I was up there last weekend for couple days of riding and the meadows were great. Went from Reecer over to the airstrip on Mission and had a most excellent adventure. We still couldnt rack up enough miles to get a new etec to open up:beer;

Oh and my personal snotel left to ride this morning and said it was coming down at his house, end of the road:face-icon-small-hap

Full Report

So far this year I have ridden Mission (Coleman/Dawson Canyons) area twice. The first ride was good with 6 inches or so new snow and temps in the teens. Second ride (Saturday the 15th of January 2011) was like riding in April, the snow was compact with 40+ degree temps and it will take at least 2 snowstorms before I would advise riding the area. I have ridden this area for 5 years and never seen it like this in January. PM8. Any thing below 5500 feet is rock hard ice now.
