Cold starting

Thanks for all the tips everyone. I left the bike in the truck last night and went out to start it this morning. Yesterday the temp guage said 12 degrees, this morning it said 28 and the bike started on the first kick, so it seems to only be a problem when it gets down to the low teens or more.

It might seem like overkill, but I've heard somebody on this forum say that they start their bike in their truck and let it idle until they're ready to unload. Probably not something I'd do unless there wasn't another way, but it's an idea.

I'm feeling a lot better today! I have been thinking that every time I have tried starting the bike when it was really cold I was using the starter. I left the bike in the truck the last couple days because I heard we were going to get a cold snap, and this morning it is 9 degrees. I went out and pulled the cold start button, turned on the power, and the bike started right up on the third kick! I think the starter didn't have enough spin and it was just flooding it out. I'll be trying it out a few more times to be sure, but it looks like my starting issues are solved! Thanks again for all the tips.

Was that after using the battery warmer blanket?

The battery blanket you linked looks like it fits full sized batteries. I haven't looked but, do they have them for bike sized batteries?

I haven't received the battery blanket yet. I just wanted to see if it was any different just using the kick start. I'm not sure if they make smaller sizes.
