Cog Belt

I just bought a 03 503 and am wondering how often the cog belt breaks? This way I know if it is worth buying a spare to ride with.

YOU,RE 03 MAY NOT HAVE THE "TLS" SYSTEM , THIS WAS FITTED TO ALL RACED 503's AND CAME STOCK ON ALL SLEDS 04 TO PRESENT. THIS IS A SLIP SPROCKET ON THE DRIVESHAFT TO PREVENT BELTBREAKAGE. I ALSO AM NOT SURE IF THE 04 600 BELT IS THE SAME, BUT IF INTERESTED I CAN CHECK. THE BELTS ARE VERY EXPENSIVE. I THINK $150- 180.00. I AM NOT SURE. I DO HAVE A 600 BELT , IF NEEDED CALL ME M-F 906-475-6595. JASON

My 04 600 belt is much wider than my 02 500 belt and pulleys

I have put a lot of miles on 503's and 600's in 7 years and have never lost a cog belt or even replaced one. These are industrial rated belts at 1000 HP.

i have an 02 503 and ride it hard with no belt failures yet(knock on wood) i do carry a spare just incase though.hey anyone have a 121 track with some lugs left on it for sale? mines starting to look like an ashphalt slick!!! let off the gas when landing jumps etc,might help save the belt...
