Clutching question

I have a 2010 crossfire 800, has powerclaw track running stock sea level weights/spring and stock secondary spring with m8 helix/gears and bdx adjustable spring tension helix. So right now it's revving at 8350, which is bad lol. How much weight would I need to add to get the rpm down to 7900-8000?? And is there a specific brand that people prefer for weights? I do mostly ditch riding and deep snow, not many long pulls. Any help would be greatly appreciated ! :)

You are running M8 gearing, with stock 0-3k weights for a crossfire?? or 0-3k weights for an M? They are different.

Somebody will correct me if I'm wrong. I have a 800HO in a 2010 HCR and 8200 up to 8350 is perfect.

Go look up some dyno charts, 8000 rpm is peak hp. 8300 rpm you're down to 145 hp.

Lol like I said, go check actual dyno sheets you'll see that I'm right.

well actually you're wrong. heres a dyno sheet from SLP, peak falls off around 8200. The cat service manual also states that the peak RPM on the 2010-2011 m8 is 8100-8300. Dyno numbers can be made however they want to look.. So again, what gram weights are you running?? Are they 0-3k for crossfire or 0-3k for an M? They are different.

HO Motor likes the revs

I have to agree here. 8150 is peak ponies. I have the same sled. 8000 on the tach and you will be wishing you had gotten different weights. Spring for some adjustables and you will be able to get it right where you want it. Wherever that may be. Ride on.

It is true that some dyno tests show peak power at only 8000 rpms. Most dyno pulls are a short run which will usually show peak power to be at lower rpms. Get the pipe really hot and peak power will usually move up 100 to 200 rpms.
When clutching for 8000 rpms you will have too much weight for the engine to pull when it gets hot enough to move the power up 200 rpms. That is why many have trouble holding rpms on long pulls. When clutching for a hot pipe track speed may start lower but will actually go up as the pipe lets power and rpms climb.
