Clutching issues on 02 Summit.

I'm trying to solve some clutching issues on an 02 Summit 800. It has an issue when you are on and off the throttle say on a rough trail. You get back into the throttle and it free revs and then engages. So I start looking at my clutches and find that the primary has some pretty good heat "cracks" and down deep on the face of the clutch it has a pretty good grove wore in it. I'd say that has alot to do with it? This sled is a trooper I've never had to do a thing to it and it has pulled many a dead sled out of the back country so I can't complain. I just want to do a little maintanance on it and make it right. I've done some clutch work of my own on my Yamaha's and very limited on my Cat, but I've never had to even pull the clutches on my Doo. Any advice would be appreciated.

If its a 2002 and you never had the clutch clean and the belt adjusted .. it is way over due, check bushing ,rollers and arms ,Id have to see some pics of the cracks to advise on them

I know. I completely agree. I feel bad about it too. I do all of that to my mod sleds why not the good old reliable work horse? Besides this is my wife favorite sled to ride so I have to get it right!:face-icon-small-win
