clutching improvments

ive been running stock clutching last couple seasons and ive been happy with it, so im curious, have you guys seen improvement going to carls, mds, rooster ect? what kit are you all running?

Carl's kit, with cut fixed sheeve and shimmed - less slip at low rpm, better backshift. Backshift is most notable difference, better if you're riding in trees, on and off throttle again and again. Belly buster weights. Can't speak to temps with data. Haven't blown a 115 belt apart, but they start to lose performance by 700 miles or so. Clutches were realigned, cleaned routinely.

Same results with MDS weights on my '13. Ran them for over 2 years, better belt life, better engagement point for tree riding and much better back shifting. Steve is always willing to chat if you have questions.

I kept the weights/springs, as I am curious if I can run them in the Axys this year. Waiting on others to do the trial-error

MDS money back guarantee pretty much should speak for their kits. The new P-1s they came out with last season run 2 grams lighter than the previous weights and have more shift-force to boot !

A group of friends and I have been experimenting with dozens of set-ups since 2011. We've found the TCP set-up is an awesome road racing or short hardpack pull set-up, but is a little weak on backshift especially when belts become a little heated. We've seen that Carls with the roosters is pretty decent, but could pull a little harder when your running +45MPH at high elevation. The 62 gram roosters want to overshift at +9,000 with the 60's performing pretty decent at elevation but sucking big time (over reving) on hardpack trails. The stock set-up with 10-60's and the black/purple secondary appears to perform the best if you're looking for a set-up that does it all reasonably well. Great shift out on the trail, decent backshift in the powder and pulls well through the mid, it could hit a wee bit harder off the bottom. After 4 years of watching others spend money and try to improve, I haven't seen any reason to experiment. It looks as though Polaris did their homework.

2012 assault rev 2 drop in kit

Rooster adj. 56 base weight.
Blue/ pink primary spring

140/200 secondary spring
58-38 .36 helix

122 belt
Lighter secondary spring helps keep belt temps down.

Tried the black purple spring with stock helix. Wasn't happy with the belt smell

Stock, 10 series weights and the black/purple secondary spring and stock primary spring is pretty tough to beat in all conditions. Most of the aftermarket stuff is more of a give and take. Eric

The TRS set up Tony has posted on the forum is the schlitz. Wicks up, holds rpm... It just moves through the Powpow. Can't ask for anything more. Rogers Sports in Cody has all the parts. Call there. Order the $28 fix too!!!!
