clutching help

I just picked up a golf cart which has a 250cc 2-stroke motor and has the same clutches as what you would see on a snowmobile. I know this is the ski doo section but i thought you guys would have the knowledge to fix the problem. The golf cart is not down shifting when you go up hills and just bogs down. I was wondering what i can do to fix this problem.

clutches

I would take an air hose and blow the clutches out really well. then see if that makes a difference.
Any idea what kind of clutches it uses? Might have a little more response if we know what we are working on:)

I have a harley Golf cart that did the same thing when I bought it.

Check for correct belt; part number, overall length, width.
Confirm that the belt rides at the top of the sheave in the secondary clutch.
Make sure the secondary spring (probably black) has it's tang in the locating hole.

Confirm that the 3 black sliding wear buttons (that touch the helix) are not worn right out.

and as jmg mentions, clean er' up and NO lube....just brake cleen and dry it off.
