Clutching for Bighorns

I just wanted to know what people were using for the clutch setup for the Bighorns by Sheridan Wy. I was out 2 weeks ago on my first ride on my new pro and it is stock other than a Black-Purple spring in the secondary and I was running stock Poo weights,10-60 weights for 8000-10000 feet. I could not get over 7900 on any pull I done? First thing that came to mind is the chip that has to be burnt out? But after the 2nd day I could tell it had alot more power but still nothing over 7900? I came from having Doo's where I could just click and get more RPM, but not now with my Pro:face-icon-small-con I just wanted to know if anybody has been riding with a stock Pro out there and what they are running for RPM's and what weights they are running? I will take any help!! We are planning to go out in a few weeks and I want this thing to run better! I would test it a little but were only about 1000 feet here and all of are snow is gone again!:face-icon-small-fro This winter sucks!! 70 miles on my new pro and no way to test. Thanks for the help!!

The clutching you are running should be close (depending on riding weight and track length). I would give it at least 150 miles or so to "loosen up" and be well broken in. Also, it is good to make sure your clutches and belt are clean and in good condition, your belt deflection is set properly, and your belt to sheave side clearance is shimmed correctly. I know this should be set from the factory, but unfortunatly many are out of spec.

Your clutching is correct. Your sled is in the break in mode. Give it a few more miles and you will be fine.
There are more people that will chime in here that know a hell of a lot more about this than I do.
Yes this winter sucks:face-icon-small-sad
I have not been to the Bighorns for a few years but I do love that area!!

Was out to the horns like 3 weeks or so ago. Had 10-60's, stock primary, black secondary, didnt even change it to the black-purple, and she ran flawless, never missed a beat. Got 70 miles on and pulled 8150-8250 all day.

How long does the "break-in" mode last?

I am no expert on this but I thought I remember reading here that there is a break in period or a ECU break in mode if you will. I believe it was approximately 100 miles or 3 hours. I hope others will chime in here and set me straight. :ranger:

Ya i heard anywhere from 3-5 hours.

I do have the plug set for the premium gas, also my belt was squawking a little bit, and I couldnt remember what to do until I got home and looked up another thread on that, I should have it right now, but with now snow again I will have to wait:face-icon-small-con I should have burnt threw that chip, we rode for 2 days solid, I only had about 75 miles, but when your in and out of trees your more on the hours than the miles.I did clean my clutches before we left and I washed my belt also, I weigh 200lbs without my gear and the sled is a 155. (and your belt to sheave side clearance is shimmed correctly) B2 said this, how do you check that?? Just wanted to say thanks for all the help!! Nice to have people to help ya out instead of depending on a dealer and alot of money:face-icon-small-coo
