what are the elevations around alpine, wy? looks like the town is at about 5700 ft.

what should i clutch my sled for? 2014 Pro RMK 155, stock.

thanks

I have the same sled and run 60's there, its perfect at 8100-8200. Just don't hammer on it when your down low on the trails. Most of the off trail riding is 7500-8500 ft. Eric

Alpine is my stomping ground. I clutch for 6k-8k, 10-62s. Works great. The vast majority of your riding will be in this range.

Yep! 6K-8K Alt.= 10-62 weights. That's what the Owners Manual says too. The three snochecked RMK's I've owned all had 10-62 in them from the factory. I use 10-68 in the flatlands of the Ohio valley and 10-58 when I'm up at 10K-12K in N Colorado.

Blind Bull is over 9k, and you can easily get to 10k, but most of your other riding will be under 9k. If you have 10-60's bring'em, just in case, but start with 10-62's on an avg stocker. Don't know your weight, gear, the motor likes RPMs.

Living in Jackson - Running 10-60s here. Really, there is very little "real" riding at 6K - most starts at 7 and gets "real" at around 8. Hence Why I'm clutched from 8-10K...

heavier the rider less weight in the primary?

thanks all. I am 210lbs without gear.
sounds like similar elevations to what we have here. we start at about 7000 ft and then go up to about 9500. most of our riding is around 8000.
i have stock clutching now, and it seems good

i do have 10-60s and a black purple secondary spring.

what if we go up to Togwotee?

thanks

Kylant,

I live in Truckee and have been riding in Alpine the last few years. I run my Tahoe clutching here (with ethanol setting on).

If you need a little more rpm, you could switch to non ethanol setting since the fuel here is non ethanol.

I'm riding Utah tomorrow and Alpine on Friday.

Next time. This is a quick hitter with Eric. Val is buried with work, but I've got a second TMX motor going in her sled when I get back.

Are you back riding yet?

I just pulled in the yard, home from Eagle River with Matt. I will be on the snow Saturday. I have a green light, all healed. :)

heading to Togwotee for the week, not going to ride in alpine

i will throw the 10-60s in the primary. should i put the black purple spring in the secondary?

thanks

In running black/purple secondary and stock helix. Primary is blue/punk with stock weights (balanced and matched).

My full riding range is 5-9k, but rarely get above 8k.
Running 3" track in a 156.

Pulls 8300 with a fresh belt all day.

That can be the case.

I've seen where a big dude was clutched just right and his wife hops on, stabs the throttle and hits the rev limiter.

I couldnt get my mds weights light enough to see over 8000 in cooke. I didnt change my secondary tho. This year im going black/pink slp and 58s primary and black purple team secondary if we go to cooke again.

I want to say the blue/pink is 140/360.
Can't remember what the black/pink is. What is your engagement?
58 grams MDS is definitely not apples to apples with Polaris 10 series weights.
