Clutching 2007

I have a 2007 xrs 159 SUCKS TO BE ME.But every body says they have the clutch fix even BRP WHAT A JOKE. Please help a guy out.Ride at about 5000 ft weight 250.

I have the same sled as you, 2007 XRS 159. I've been riding mtns for over 10 yrs now and tune and wrench on all DOO stuff to ensure we get all that we can out of them. Our sleds are often accused of having big bore kits, but really just dialed in and also we are pretty experienced riders.

There is not a tuned XP that can touch this XRS. I do have the new spec engine though since the first one blew up. I added SLP 13.7:1 head (small negligable increase), powdermax track from a 2006 revX (huge huge increase in performance) and Dyanamo Joe's clutching (huge huge huge increase in performance), also I cleaned up clutches to ensure everything was running loose inside. This sled is very very strong, track speed is crazy which i attribute ot DJ's cltuching and the forgiveness of the powdermax track when spinning over powder/buried tracks/etc. running DJ's helix and 160/320 primary spring and 19g's weight, clicker 2 on trail and clicker 4 at 6000-7000 feet, i weigh 200lbs so prob around 235 geared up (abs/pack/tek vest/helmet/riding clothes). stock secondary spring. you could probably run a bit less weight without a head and with your additional body weight. ensure that suspension is adjusted correctly and it will be a sweet ride...don't worry about the negative hype on this sled, it does work well once the clutch bugs are worked out (and you don't have the electrical issues of an XP, never mind drive shaft, track, clutch, gearing, heat, chaincase issues of it either. ride it hard, it's a good sled...but if the motor hasn't been changed out yet...then that may be another story :(

oh i forgot to mention, if you really want the cadillac clutch set up, Dynamo Joe just added some custom ground ramps to compliment his clutch kit, this would eliminate your need to clicker down for trail and clicker up for Alpine. I think they are only about $20 more than than stock ramps....i may try a set, will save me having to put on the quick clickers that run around $75.00. I dunno, i just hate farting with the clickers, damn polarass boys give me a hard time when my panels are open....would be nice just to ride when in the hills and no tinckering...i think i just sold myself a DJ custom ramp add on to my clutch kit. Set it and forget it is a nice feature. hopefully he adds these to his website soon. let me know if you need help on the set up, i can walk you through it.

"drop the hammer" x 2. i ride a 2007 XRS 800R 159 with the original engine and couldn't be happier. i wanted to purchase a new XP last year but wanted to wait until they had all of the bugs fixed on them. then i thought i would buy one this year, but the reliability and fun factor of my XRS makes it hard to justify the $4000 "upgrade". i did stuggle a little bit with the clutching issue at first but island park adventures had the best fix i've found so far. great work from great guys and very affordable.

to "drop the hammer"- what was the biggest thing that you noticed after switching tracks? i have heard stories from guys who said they loved it and others say just the opposite. curious to see if its worth the coin to do it. also, any changes to pipe/can? thanks.

Can you give me a email with your # and i will give you a call. Thanks KTM sid.seitz@hotmail.com

Drop the Hammer's sled really works well. Changing the track really improved the sled. The stock track was just too stiff. I think the single ply XP track is too stiff as well. He is on holidays for a week or so.
