Clutch Puller

I think the EPI # is PCP-8, but don't quote me on that. I'm sure a buddy borrowed the puller for my '06 900 to pull his Pro's primary last season.

Sent from my iPhone when I should be working.

Ok before you go and spend any money greasemonkey I have a little trick for you to try that I always used on my Doo's.Tip your sled on its side so the clutch is facing up. Pull your bolt out for your clutch and wrap it with black tape( not alot but not to little) and fill the hole where the bolt came out with water, not all the way to the top about where the threads are, then put your bolt back in and tighten down until tight and let the water work its magic, within 1min it should make this funny woop sound and it will pop the clutch right off, simple hydraulics at work:becky: When I had my Doo I was always pulling the clutch off and I could never get the clutch puller to work:face-icon-small-con But this worked every time!! Just make sure to get all the water out and make give it a shot of some type of oil so it wont rust down in there, very cheap way to do it.:beer;

Gotta try that, somehow I'm thinking when I do it its going to shoot out and hit me in the face knowing my luck.:face-icon-small-win

Ive got a puller and i cant get this primary to pop off....any pointers, am i not getting it tight enough?...im kinda worried about damaging it from tightening it to tight.

One place that a sled belongs to be put on its side, in the snow! :face-icon-small-ton

Buy the tool, in the long run, you'll thank yourself!

Use some grease to apply the proper hydraulic function. Coat the threads on the puller lightly/evenly. then I usually put a few pumps of the grease gun down inside the clutch. Then apply smooth steady pressure and it'll pop off. Don't be scared to get a large breaker bar to help! with a large breaker bar, use very steady pressure, no pounding.

I've done this and it works awesome!!

Don't worry about the water..... Ya know, it's just melted snow...... :becky:

Im not really a fan of the water idea. Im going to buy the puller. Right tool for the right job.

I'm with you.... The right tool is my first priority. However someday when you install the puller and you apply so much pressure that the tip of the tool bends over... (This happens)..... The suggestions above can get you out of a real jam!

Otherwise, I always use the puller as well.....

Been there done that! If the tip bends bad enough it messes up the primary bolt threads on the way out... not a good thing!

Been there done that myself as well lol. That was last winter on the assault. Didnt screw up the threads though. I borrowed a puller from my buddy and the end had was a lot thicker and it worked perfectly on my pro.
