clutch help!!

once aigan i have a 94 summit 583 question.. my primary clutch is cracked on the outside sleve. my clutch seemed to over shift and locked open, i held it WOT for about 100 yards and then on let off it felt like my engine died and i came to a sudden stop. when i looked my clutch was locked open!with a little crack and now its spans the width of the upper section of the outer sleve. why did it do it?? also do you think i can ride with it cracked? it dosnt seem like its going down to where the sleves grab the belt? and do you know who sells used clutches or parts for them i cant seem to find one anywhere.
thanks

No Do Not ride or run your sled with the clutch cracked!
Probably a good idea to get a shop in your area to replace it.
Or find a good used one but they are hard to come buy with that taper. (583)

EBay, my friend. Should be able to find one there. My old 670 cracked yrs ago, had it welded and then machined to keep it balanced, it never came apart or cracked again that i noticed. I think its from too much heat in the clutch, gear down or get more airflow directed to the clutch IMO.

That thing is a TIME-BOMB.

Some people will tell stories of "ahh, it ain't nothin'...." But if she comes apart things will go bad in a hurry......Think spectacular & imagine a leg or someone's melon getting hit by a chunk of solid aluminum rotating at 8000 rpm.

thanks

ya i figured thats the reply one more question if its the outer sleve can i put a new outersleve from a 670 or same year snowmobile? if so what years had that clutch
