Clutch gets wet in powder... Poo's carving circles around me. Help!

I have a 07 800r 151. when riding in deep power, i end up getting snow on my clutch and the belt slips. i end up having to take my panels off and dry the clutches off. sometimes, i have fist fulls of snow stuffed between my plastics and my clutch when i stop and take off the panel. during this time, my friends carve circles around me. its not that sweet.

sled is stock, clutches are in good shape and were cleaned 150 miles ago. my plastics are in good shape. I think that the snow is getting in the tiny vent in the plastic side panel on the clutch side, and i think that the secondary is the clutch that is slipping. belt is visibly wet, and it usually starts after a hard left turn. does this little vent have a screen on it from the factory? should i cover it? i dont want to blow belts and im sick of drying out my clutch.

any thoughts appreciated.

I hope this sled is new to you cause it's the first thing ya gotta do when you get a rev in the deep snow. Duct tape the vent off, don't worry about blowing belts by covering it, worry about blowing belts by letting your clutches get wet.

DITTO!!!! I bought mine new and that is the first thing i did to mine. I NEVER get snow on my clutches.... and i put 2000 miles on my belt, then finally changed it for chits and giggles.... i have never blown a belt!!!

What belt are you running in your sled?? I have an 06 Summit and cant keep a belt in the damn thing, I break them in real easy for 40 or so miles and still they maybe last a day or two of deep snow riding. I have a clutch alignment tool on the way to check that cause that is the last thing i can think of. Just wondering what a good belt to run is being i can't get a 166 anymore.

Thanks

I believe WinterBrew recommends the 288 belt.

check your alignment and i was havving the same problem your having. i found out it was the little orange torque stopper behind the left cylinder between the primary and secondary clutch. make sure its tight enought to be some what solid but if its too tight it throws it out of alignment

No need to rivit it, if your talkign about that little nike swoosh thing. I took some screen and i used a glue gun to attach it to the back looks factory, and stopped the snow from going in while still venting.

Probably not. I tend to over build as to not ever have to mess with it again. I took some mesh hood material and backed it up with 1/4" thin guage square wire mesh and riveted it on. Probably overkill but bulletproof. Also did this on hood vents and over headlights. Keeps all snow out and breaths good.

Yup that little Nike vent is pretty dumb. I used a piece of screen door material and then hot glued it on. Keeps the snow out and works well, If this is the only spot snow is getting in you have yourself the easiest sled fix ever.......Good Luck
