Hatchers if you are looking for the Arctic Cat recomended alignment spec for the sleds it is
1.655 offset bar for the 07-09
and
1.507 offset bar for the 2010
from what I can tell they have machined the secondary to allow it to move farther in.
As the basic set up of the sleds has not changed I think they think this is a better set up. But you can't use the new measurement without modifying the secondary on earlier models or use the new secondary.

I tested at the shop with a new 2010 M8 HO LE. With the 2010 secondary the 1.507" bar fits perfectly.
The front of the bar sits flush against the inside face of the fixed primary sheave and the rear of the bar against the outer driven sheave front and back flush.
Took a clutch of a new 2009 M8 and slid it on the 2010 sled all the way in as far as it will go. With the 1.507 bar there is as large gap between the front of the bar and the fixed primary sheave. I then used the 1.655 bar and it fits correctly.
The previous years secondary would have to be modified to achieve the 1.507" offset on any of the sleds.
That would be a NO
Sell that 1.5 to some one who has a 2010 and get you the 1.6 or better idea get you a new sled to go with your new clutch alignment bar.

The correct bar to use is 1.507. Any sled with 10.4 secondary. 1.655 will eat belts.
What he said and if you need to go in really far make sure you run at least one .030 behind the secondary to keep it from hitting the reverse drive case at full shift.
Longer belt the secondary needs to go in. If you look the 10" secondary had 1.375" of total shift the flat edge left on the secondary was .25" now add those numbers up. With the 10.4" it de clutched the sled and the total shift is only 1.25" now needing less off set and the clutch needs to be moved in. .25" and 1.25" is 1.5" and the extra .007 is for the deflection with a new belt. AS the belt wears we need to keep moving the secondary in.

I am believing the 1.507 may be a better set up, but without the 2010 secondary you can't get there without machining the driven clutch on prior year models.
If you really wanted to get there you could shim the motor mounts and get yourself enough room.

hey guys, MMsports sold me my 2010 and was a bit unsure about the new alignment at the time of sell.....a week past and he gave me a call to let me know the new alignment numbers are for real and to make the needed shim change.....well time has past and my belt looks new

I believe Arctic Cat found the 1.507 offset to be a better set up for the sleds. However you can't achieve the new offset with the older 2007-2009 driven clutches. (without machining them) In general you would probably want your secondary as far in as possible on 2007-2009 without hitting the gearcase.

with the old cat alignment bar for like jackshaft sleds... the offset bar i have is 1.550. with no shims my '09 m1 this bar seems to fit good. but would hvae to move motor or machine sec to get 1.507. put an extra mount in so maybe that 1000 wont torque back soo much this year. hopefully it works.
