Closer than you think A MUST READ !!!!

Colorado has a "Make My Day" law - where if they're in your home without authorization and posing a clear threat to you/family/etc.. You can control the situation as needed. There's probably more info on this that I have... It seems to play itself out in Downtown Denver most frequently from what I recall. I don't think shooting the paperboy in the back after giving him a cup of coffee while he leaves your home qualifies.

MD.

What about "non-lethal" bean bag loads etc. Wouldn't it make sense if the first one or two loads had a smaller chance of killing someone? I'm sure they hurt like h*ll and will drop someone to the ground. Then you get the gun in their face and call the cops. I'd rather not have to clean up the bloody mess in my house and repair messed up walls unless I have to.

If the first bean bag shot doesn't do the trick and they come after you still, then fire with the next one in line and kill the SOB.

I keep my 12 guage loaded with buckshot but always wondered if I should keep something else loaded as the first round.

Buck shot is some serious stuff. At close range(in a house) there isn't a 12Gauge load that won't destroy someone , hell not even a .410 is a safe round at close range!! Shotguns are the best home defense weapon on the planet!!

Not quite the whole story...

Tony Martin..wiki

Tony Martin...BBC

I think the major problem was that Tony was off his rocker and killed a person as they were leaving the house...

If they were leaving then it does not seem like self defense... Though, that is a gray area.. Seem wrong he went to jail for that long, or at all...

I wonder what would have happened (in the legal case) if he had his permit and didn't have little traps and stuff around his house...

I don't care whether they are on the way in or out. If they break into my house while I am home, I will turn their azz into swiss cheese. No person should be prosecuted while protecting themselves in their own home. No criminal should be able to sue the person they were assaulting.

Dead men tell no tales

in Idaho ya drag em back in the house and dont let em live. Dead men cant sue you or testify

Good post.

I agree, don't care where he shot him. If they are snooping outside my house they'll get it too

Never shoot them outside, especially if you don't kill them or they will sue you and take everything you have, it has happened several times. I know a few good old school retired police officers and they say if you shoot be sure you kill and pull them back in the house, don't leave them outside or you may not like the consequenses. Swampy:D:D:D

I don’t care what the circumstance. If that dirt bag is in my house it will be the last time he robs anyone. The guy should of drug him back in the house.

3 words...shoot to kill. The worst possible thing you can do is have two sides to YOUR story.
