Clear AV Gas

Well i decided i wanted to try av gas in my sled because im tired of buying 110. I just went to the airport and the gas was clear. I looked it up on the internet and i guess california has clear av gas. its lead free and ethanol free. Should it be ok to run? I already filled my sled up before i looked it up. Wish i would have looked first lol

Hmmm...I would question that gas. I do believe the only true Aviation Gasoline currently available is 100LL and it is blue in color. The LL is for Low Lead, BUT it still contains a fair amount of lead.

well i topped off my tank with it and it took 2.5 gallons. the rest is 110. at the pumps it says 100ll. there was a sign next to it that said it has an anti knock additive. i guess im just gonna go with it. from what i read online the lead isnt that big of a deal.

I wondered if it was a California thing. Wouldn't suprise me if it didn't have lead, as Cali seems to have anti everything govt.

It might be the brand too, around here there is AVFuel, Chevron, Phillips, Epic brand...

Last time I filled up it wasn't dyed blue either, just natural.

Can't tell the difference!

I can't tell the difference between the 100LL Av gas I buy and the VP111. It looks the same (blue), smells the same (in the can and when the sled is running) and it evaporates at seemingly the same rate. Which is not as fast as gasoline. I think VP just puts it in a 20L can or 205L barrel and calls it 107 octane race fuel. Bastards, been buying their high priced crap for too long!

i know they said its chevron. california is crazy. It almost looked like there was a slight blue color to it but not very much. had to really look at it good. my friends said back a few years ago it was alot more blue.

It's just a select few airports. It was approved by the FAA to meet same standards as 100ll. http://www.cleargas.co/default/assets/File/7-4-2011%20Press%20Release%20from%20Aviation%20Fuel%20Club%20-%20Clear%20Gas%20brings%20unleaded%20avgas%20to%20California.pdf
