did we lose the rock lyrics thread?
I will start a new one and add classic to it

here is one that will seperate the men from the boys
I have satellite radio in my new truck and heard this one today

One day you're up and the next day you're down

You can't face the world with your head to the ground

The grass is always greener on the other side, they say

So don't worry, boys, life will be sweet some day
Oh, oh, oh, oh

Oh, oh, oh, oh

We made enough mistakes

But you know we got what it takes

River of chit, river of chit
Flow on, flow on, river of chit
Right from my toes
On up to my nose
Flow on on, flow on, river of chit
I've been swimming in this river of chit
More than 20 years and I'm gettin' tired of it
Don't like swimming, hope it'll soon run dry
Got to keep swimming, 'cuz I don't want to die
(Spoken:)
Who dealt this mess, anyway?
Yeah, that's an old card player's term,
But sometimes you can use the old switch-a-roo
And it can be applied to frontal politics.
What I mean is, who was it that set up a system,
Supposedly a democratic system, where you end up
Always votin' for the lesser o' two evils?
I mean, was George Washington the lesser of two evils?
Sometimes I wonder.
Ya got some guy that says,
"For god's sake we got to stop havin' violence in this country",
While he's spendin' sixteen thousand dollars a second... snuffin' gooks.
(Sing:)
River of chit, river of chit
River of chit, river of chit
(Big brown river!)
Flow on, flow on, river of chit
(Yeah! Bigger than hell! And wealth and prosperity to every
man woman and child)
River of chit
Flow on"

One of my favorite rock lyrics is AD/DC from Highway To Hell that goes something like:

"no stop signs, speed limits, nobody's gonna slow me down""

I think about it all the time sledding.

"Long way to the top."
This is the song that put them on the road worldwide.
Damn shame they won't play it anymore out of respect to Bon Scott.

Got to love any rock song with bagpipes in it. I'm pretty sure it was out a long time before Highway to Hell though.....man I'm old, I actually remember this

another rock lyric I always associate with sledding is from Pink Cadillac from Bruce Springsteen that goes something like:

"now some folks say it's too big and uses too much gas
some say it's too old, and that it goes too fast"

I love this thread.

I understand about indecision
But I dont care if I get behind
People livin in competition
All I want is to have my peace of mind.

rocked out to that one this morning on the way to work... they just dont make em like they used to...

Metallica - The black album (Metallica)

Nothing Else Matters

So close no matter how far
couldn't be much more from the heart
forever trusting who we are
and nothing else matters

never opened myself this way
life is ours, we live it our way
all these words I don't just say
and nothing else matters

trust I seek and I find in you
every day for us something new
open mind for a different view
and nothing else matters

never cared for what they do
never cared for what they know
but I know

so close no matter how far
couldn't be much more from the heart
forever trusting who we are
and nothing else matters

never cared for what they do
never cared for what they know
but I know

never opened myself this way
life is ours, we live it our way
all these words I don't just say

trust I seek and I find in you
every day for us something new
open mind for a different view
and nothing else matters

never cared for what they say
never cared for games they play
never cared for what they do
never cared for what they know
and I know

so close no matter how far
couldn't be much more from the heart
forever trusting who we are
no nothing else matters

One of my favs, Thats one of those rare bands that could make an album you could actually listen to from start to finish, Without skipping a song.:beer;

JROD, I did not think that I would ever see Brothers In Arms posted on this, or any other site for that matter. It is by far my favorite song. If you decide to come down to Denver for the Knopfler concert, look me up.

Anything by Alice, but here's one of my favs

I Love The Dead [5:08] - Billion Dollar Babies, 1973
I love the dead before they're cold,
Their blueing flesh for me to hold.
Cadaver eyes upon me see nothing.
I love the dead before they rise,
No farewells, no goodbyes.
I never even knew your now-rotting face.
While friends and lovers mourn your silly grave.
I have other uses for you, Darling.

I love the dead,
I love the dead,
I love the dead so.
I love the dead,
I love the dead,
I love the dead.
I love the dead,
I love the dead,
I love the dead.
I love the dead,
I love the dead,
I love the dead.
I love the dead,
I love the dead,
I love the dead.

I, I love the dead,
I, I love the dead,
I, I love the dead.

I love the dead before they're cold,
Their blueing flesh for me to hold.
Cadaver eyes upon me see nothing.

A fav since I was a kid with AM on the tractor

Sha-la-la-la-la-la my lady
In the sun with your hair undone
Can you hear me now calling your name
From across the bay
A summer's day laughing and a-hidin'
Chasing love out on Thunder Island

She was the color of the Indian summer
And we shared the hours without number
Until one day when the sky turned dark
And the winds grew wild
Caught by the rain and blinded by the lightnin'
We rode the storm out there on Thunder Island

I held her close
Until the storm passed
And we fell down laughing in the wet grass
Both our bodies drying in the sunshine, sweet sunshine
So, sha-la-la-la-la-la my lady
In the sun with your dress undone
Now, ev'ry mile away and ev'ry day
Cuts a little deeper
I'll remember the nights in the cool sand
Making love out on Thunder Island
