Classic Impala's?

Anyone know anything about Classic Impala's?
I have a gentlemen that wants to trade me a Show ready 65' with a fuel injected 502 matched to a built 700r4, for a piece of equipment I have. I am not a car guy, so I am looking for any advice I can get on this car.
Looking at ebay and a couple classic car sites, it seems the price is good, but I wonder with it being a non matching numbers car if it really effects the price or not.
Anyone?

Numbers matching cars are pretty cool if it is restored to original and is low miles, otherwise it means nothing nowadays to collectors. Saw it big time this year at Barrett Jackson. I wouldn't worry about it, I would be compare more to what that iron is bringing in your area and also what his receipts say he has into it. Post some pics if you have any, sounds like it could be pretty nice

Looks like a nice rig, if the price is right and the body was done right I wouldn't hesitate.

Yes, numbers matching really does affect price....HOWEVER! That looks like a GM HP crate motor with a Edelbrock(?)MPFI system, and while it may not be the original powerplant, it is a very driveable setup.

700r4 tranny is great for the road, those 502's made great hp with TONS of torque, they were a roller cam motor, and it has a very nice EFI system on it, an MSD box, aluminum radiator, and a Billet Specialties pulley system/AC unit. The car has disc brakes on it(brake booster), and...is that an air-ride control in between the bucket seats?

The car, while not being numbers matching, is a very clean, easy to drive summer car, and honestly, alot of the trend is leaning towards that, a car that can be driven to shows, looks good, and is reliable.

Thanks guys, this is some good information.
The box between the seats is the EFI control....
He said the tranny was built to handle 1000hp...however this one as it sits is just under 600hp, according to him.

If the body and frame are straight and clean, I would not hesitate to jump on this car. I would guess that the owner has close to 10k into the engine alone! This past winter my father installed a 502 carb crate engine into his 65 Impala and the engine alone was around 8k.

What about mine??? What is mine worth??? hahaha
VROOOM!!!! You stay classy!
Nice lookin' car..:D

Make sure it's a true SS car, even if the numbers don't match. That will make a difference in value, and resale down the road.

Numbers matching cars are sought after by collectors. If this thing has a big block 502, it will cater to the resto-rod guys. SOme of these cars are getting big money at auction. They put big motors, nice wheels, updated suspension and brakes but retain the look of the original. I guess it all depends on what you like.

While I know that beauty is in the eye of the beholder, what would you think this car is worth?
He states he has 40k in receipts. But he is trading it for a piece of equipment worth 20-25k. The only reason I am interested in it is if it's worth more than my equipment when everything turns around. Then I can try and sell it(if I dont like it).

The car has to be worth at least 20K with the 502 and all the goodies. The Impala wasn't the most sought after body design of the day (Nova/Chevelle/GTO etc.) but that's a really nice example of one. If you put a nicer set of wheels on that car it would really improve the chances of selling it (if you want to sell it). The wheels on the car pictured below are popular on the resto/daily driver cars I've seen. The big thing is keeping the front and rear end just a little lower than stock but not scraping the weeds like a true low rider. With the right wheel offset, you can have the nicer wheel and tire combo tucked nicely into the wheel well.
