Hey I was wondering where you go in behind Chugiak to ride that valley? I've heard you can and I've definately heard some sleds around here. Be a nice area to test and tune. Maybe ride from the house :face-icon-small-win

Lower Potter lot, Lower Mchugh Lot, and Bird Fishing Access, OPEN. All other gates Locked.
Average snow depth is recorded uncompressed.
Snowmachine openings are based on amount of packed snow base and vegetation coverage.

:closed_2:? When will it open up then? Where would the sleds I've heard been? Thanx

Which valley are you talking about? If you're talking about Peters Creek Valley (trailhead top of Ski Road, I think) or the trail from the Old Glenn up to Mt. Baldy, those are closed to motorized vehicles, always. If you heard snowmobiles, you either heard residents using their sleds on their land, or you heard people who weren't following the non-motorized rules in that area and are risking fines. There aren't a lot of places you can (legally) ride in the Eagle River/Chugiak area.

The State Parks guys decide when it will open. Most areas will require around 3' of snow and that the vegitation has plenty of cover to prevent damage from sleds. Like Dee said, not many riding areas around town. Here is a link of the trails, each has it's own list of restrictions. The guys who ride in the closed areas are ruining it for all of us, so please wait until it's opened.
