Chris Brown Recovery Fund

As many of you may know and some may not Slednecks Rider Chris Brown was seriously hurt while fiming for Slednecks and Frontier Films two weeks ago in Brandywine Bowl Whistler. He is still in the hospital at VAncouver General and has undergone a 14 hour surgery to repair a shattered heel, tib and fib fractures broken pelvis hip displacement and torn bladder. His nuts were crushed so bad that they blew up to the size of a coconut and still are the same color...black and blue. He is one tough dude...He was close to dying on the hill and again in the hospital that night. My partner Binty Massey with Whistler Search and Rescue said it was one of the most brutal live recoveries he had experienced and quite possibly if not for Chris's fellow riders and the many people who were there who helped make a path for S&R and the heli and gave up their jackets to keep him warm..he would be gone. Special thanks to Geoff Kyle and Julie Frasier for putting on a amazing benefit last Tuesday in Whistler to help Chris with his immediate financial needs.
I am writing on this forum to reach out to all the people who may know him or have watched him dazzle us jumping over Trains gaps techie riding everthing he has done. His bills are enormous and his income from his sledding adventures is done.. At least for a couple of years hopefully not longer.
The CHRIS BROWN RECOVERY FUND has been set up and if you can contribute anything to this it would be a fitting tribute to this warrior!
Please use the following information to make your donation... Chris can also use all the encouragement he can get... FAcebook is a great way to reach out.
His birthday is today!

got it.. fund raiser video from Slednecks coming soon..

Thanks!

Even little bits helps people...please do what you can for Chris

To say happy birthday is weird because when you're messed up you don't care about such things but ...HB Brown...hope we will tip a few again one day! This is the annual weekend of us causing alot of trouble at West Yellowstone back in the day.

why not? Alot of action stars make alot of money from their wrecks. Why hide it unless someone dies or it is too violant. I talked to vahn smith from 3sw films in bozeman mt yesterday. He had a broken hip and i think also a feamer. He told me he was planning on selling the rights to the wreck to anyone who wanted to buy them. He wrecked trying to do a flip.

Just seams to me, that if they are trying to raise money for chris, put together a greatest hits and at the end of the film, go ahead and show it. It will probubly be the last time Chris is in an extreame film actualy doing the riding. I hope that is not the case but that is what it sounded like. If i cought a bad wreck of mine on camera, i would wanna show it.

Chris - sent what we could, hoping for a speedy recovery.

You made my son's day a couple of years ago at the Denver Snow Show, taking the time to talk to him and sign a poster (was a big deal for a 4-year old).

best of luck with the recovery.. CB is a hero to many!
Sledders being film stars don't make a lot of money, its the the things they do on the side that pay the bills.. they film and ride in films for fun in almost all cases..

anything helps!

Chris does pretty good. I did a lot of surveying for his place in Steamboat. To own that land takes a pretty fat pocket book. He's a smart guy and has or had some ventures going on in the area. Hope he heals fast!

This is the correct link to the short film that Slednecks put out yesterday to help assist in Chris's recovery fund.

Thanks to all that have or will help! There are many professional riders and drivers in all the extreme sports that need help and would greatly appreciate any support. Again Thank you! form Chris and his family and friends!

I hope Chris recovers fully and soon. Please dont take this the wrong way, but I have to ask.

Seems to me that Slednecks is pretty popular and sells a crap load of merchandise, don't they have insurance for their riders?

That is a great question and no they don't.. Although they are doing the right thing in moving towards a video that will benefit many of their sponsored riders that have been injured. as far as I know none of the filming companies have insurance for their riders...even if they are sponsored.
The fact that this happen to Chris in Whistler may or may not play out as a benefit to him..given the medical that Canada has in place. The bill is into the hundreds of thousands...I figure 200-250 so far...And that does not include what the day to day expenses are when he gets out... It is a really bad situation as it is for Courtney...Thacker...Levi...and many others in this sport and other extreme sports that normal insurance and industry does not cover or acknowledge. Don't know what the answer is..Health insurance is one of the biggest question in the US right now.

This situation is really unfortunate and I hope Chris heals up quickly. I love watching the videos and the crazy extream stuff they do. I would have never guessed in a million years that those guys are doing all that while un-insured/ under-insured.
I often turn down the "big" moves when riding because of my insurance caps and limits. But I guess that's why I'm not on film, common sense prevails with me.:face-icon-small-coo Classic case of younger ppl not recognizing thier mortality.

Get Well Soon Chris!

chris is in his mid 30's if i remember right. I doubt insurance companies give very good rates when they ask your ocupation and you tell them you fall offcliffs for a living.
