Choke cable removal

How do I go about removing choke.

Back out that large nut thing that holds the cable housing down in the carb. It is a plunger style so once that "nut" is out the plunger will lift out.

Thats is what I thought. Once I removed nuy though it won't pull out? Is it common for plungers to freeze?

Plunger was rusted in. Didn't want to mess with it and bought a new carb and choke cable. Sled day for like 8 years so probably time.
