Choices

Well the Wife is getting ready to give up on the 08 Phazer MTX, we mostly do boondocking and playing on some hills and such, What is the best choice for a non agressive rider, I was thinking maybe an M6 141? whats other opinions?

Upgraded my wife's sled this year from a 2003 RMK 600 with a 144 track to a 2009 RMK 700 with a 155 track and she is VERY happy! Which means I am happy :-) LOL!

She needs something that is easy to ride, and it is hard for me to say since I ride an Apex and everything seems easy to move arround compared to them (I still love it though) As for a longer track, I am not sure that she really needs anything begger than a 144 (I am thinking for ease of moving it arround) I also want reliability.

What things does she not like about the Phazer? is it a power thing or other? Might be easier to make suggestions for you.

the polaris 155 handles as good or better then other sleds straight raill 144's....with the tipped rail they handle very good...and I too would recommend the D-7...

Mostly the power thing, and the tippiness, I have moved the skis out already (can still go out more though, will try that for next ride), she likes on the trail, but as soon as she gets off, she doesnt like it so much. She had an 02 mountain cat 600 before and felt way more confident on that than she does the Phazer. She rode it last season and her opinion hasnt changed this year, I just put on some better boards (work awesome) and closed off 1/2 the hole under the seat, that solves the icing issues on the foot boards, so the footing is great now.

I would look into a 600 rev, they seem reliable and have good power. Great on the trails and great off the trails, just my 0.02

Yea ski-doo is another option, how are they for warmth (windshield?) and do the M series Cats still use the cable system for their powervalves? That was one thing I didnt like about the cat, they were constantly coming off (I think she rode right where they would open, so they would open and close causing the cables to come off?)

Id go with a 600 RMK 155. Just my .02. Also it is my dream sled, so I am kinda partial towards anyone going in that direction, haha. Good luck!

I don't know why anyone would want one of the new style Phazers. I had one for half the season last year and wouldn't recommend one of those things to anyone. My wife is riding an 07 600 REV this year and she really likes it. It has the small windshield right now and no complaints about being cold. You can get a bigger windshield if it's an issue.:beer;

I thought it would work better for her, when in reality, they arent horrible, but you have to be agressive and have it pinned all day, and she doesnt ride like that, she is going to put on a few more miles then make the decision (the next choice will be hers, so I dont get blamed for it) But I think Cats are out (powervalve cables are a pain, had to deal with them once and hated them) So I think it is between Polaris and Ski-doo (600 sizes are what she would want)

I think I would try to borrow, rent, steal :D, a couple of different sleds for her to try before buying. That "buy to try" stuff gets expensive.

I haven't heard any issues about the cables coming off with the laydown motors? I think an M6 or RMK IQ Raw 600 would be the way to go for ease of handling.

I would say the polaris 600 rmk would be best. It has the power, floatation, and I think its the only brand that looks good with a 12inch windshield

What is your budget? I would consider the 600 RMK. Sure the 700 Dragon is lighter but the 600 will be cheaper.

Well that is going to depend on trade in on the Phazer, From what I can see up here they dont move very fast in the bargain finder (there is a turbo one in there now and it has been there a bit, and he only wants 5500 cdn) I live in Canada. A 700 anything is going to be to much for her, if she gets scared, it will be all downhill from there.

You owe it to yourselves to let her try a Polaris 600 RMK with the 155 track. This sled rips and handles great, ...very over-looked and under appreciated sled, ..light weigth with excellant performance and reliability.

Good luck with your search.

07 600 rmk

07 or newer rmk 600. i rented my wife one for a trip and with no experience under her, she loved it. I let her ride my M7 for a while and she made me switch back. i ride with a couple gals that have them, 1 a 600 another 700, and they do better than most even guys. Good luck.:beer;

I really know nothing about the newer RMK's I know that every brand has their issues (even my Apex) so I am not brand loyal (I use to own 2 Cats) What are some known issues with the RMK?
