Chevy or Dodge

These extra special incentives and 50% off deals on new absolutely kill the trade-in value of the used models in the market. I had a guy fax me one of those deals offering me 3% over dead cost and he wanted me to give him 12 grand for a trade that may have been worth 5. Offered him the 3% over deal but I wasn't going to eat his trade. Needless to say I never got the deal. I saw him the other day prowling the lot and he still drives the 5 grand trade.

Yea I agree, if there is pain to be spread it needs to be spread evenly. To expect near wholesale on one side and retail on the other side is just simply not reasonable, but some dealers have been doing that for years. This economy has certainly turned those tables.
"The tied raises all boats." The opposite effect is also true.

It's one of the reasons I privately sold my existing truck and will cash buy the new one. That really simplifies the deal plus your talking apples to apples between dealers on the new one.

Of course. You will always net more cash by selling your trade privately. The issue is dealing with the buyer, trusting the person isn't going to screw off with your trade etc. You have to remember that when you trade a vehicle in, you're selling the car to a guy that already owns 100's of cars. He's not paying retail for it.

08 dodge

I just bought an 08 Dodge 1/2 ton. The one I bought was the Big Horn Laramie, completely loaded with the 5.7 hemi. I paid 23,000 out the door, the sticker was 39,500. I looked a chevys but they couldn't compare on price, and if you're putting a lot of miles on the truck, Dodge has the lifetime power train warranty. Lithia Dodge in Great Falls just ran a special on the truck you're looking for, they had them marked 50% off and they sold for about 16K, I think they had 6 of them. Keep looking at all the dealers out there there are really good deals to be had. I've always had Fords and Chevy's and never considered a Dodge but the other dealers couldn't beat the price this time around.

Spoke with Lithia in Great Falls today. They did have a 50% off sale on 6 club cabs 4x4 with the 4.7 & 5speeds for $16,600. All were gone in 4 hours. Said they lost about $4k each on them. Did it to get people on the lot. With the auto today's price is $21,000 to $23,000. Still not bad but everybody has them at that price.
Still thinking but am leaning toward the chevy. All the 4.7's are flex fuel with the aluminum block. Chevy 4.8 comes in both flex / aluminum or cast block. The one I am looking at is cast.
Thanks for the tip.
