Chevy 2500?

I am now leaning towards the 1500. I don't tow heavy loads often so why deal with less mileage over time. Besides the tourque and hp is way way more than my beater f150 ever was and I get 14 highway and 10 towing.

Post up the deals you find, im shopping for a 08/09 1/2 ton right now...
Tempted by the 6.2L on the 09

If you don't plan on getting a sled deck, then the 1500 should be fine.. You won't be breaking speed records going up the pass, but only tools really care about that anyways.... Sounds like a good decision to me, just make sure the 4wd works and get the locking rear. Though I am looking forward to pulling the Chevy out with my Jeep.;) lol

Doh :o:D:beer;
I appreciated the help!!!:D

i have a 1500hd with the 6.0

when i first got mine it sucked for mpg and power

i put true duals on and 33 tires

now empty i get 18-20 depending on wind

and i can tow a 4 place open with 4 sleds going 75 and get 12 mpg

i dont know if i just have a freak truck but the exhaust seem to make a huge huge difference ton of power out of the truck now

Did you call Dave Smiths Justadude? I know they have a crap load down there

If not the # is 208-784-1208

Deal with Rob Ross at ext. 1317 he's a good guy

Im not so sure what the LTZ has all on it.. but I just got a new 1500 LT1, wrote the check for $22,500. so -taxes and licence etc.. I feel I did pretty good.. so I would think thats to high for the LTZ

I have a 2005 2500 HD with 6.0 13 mpg on highway 9-10 towing. It is great pulls plenty hard enough. I am sure that a dsl will pull harder, but I perfer the gas. I see many many dsls in the oilpatch that no longer last like they did 10 years ago. Now they all seem to have injector or pump or computer problems that cost big bucks. In 2010 when the new deisel requirements kick in they will lean it out even more leaving less lube for pumps and injectors. Some of the companies will no longer buy them.

I need to know the good the bad and the ugly!!

Real world mileage?
Durablility?
Reliability?

I've got a line on a 08 LTZ model that is 12k off msrp.

I bought that exact truck fully loaded in May. 2008, 2500HD, 4X4, crewcab, LTZ, Z71, leather, spray in bedliner for $33K. MSRP was $43K. Mileage is 12-14...roughly 8-10 pulling the trailer. The power is strong and the 6 speed transmission is really nice for pulling. I have 5000 miles on it...not one single problem to date. I would buy it again in a second.
