I will say i checked the bonding agent on my driveshaft and its soft as hell. Being an owner of a 08 ski doo when they had this problem i can tell you i will be pulling my shaft out over the thanksgiving break and fixing it. Just my thoughts Have a great thanksgiving all my fellow sledders :)

Maybe you have an idea that isn't immediately obvious? But I can't see how you intend to weld aluminum to cast steel?

My original post said weld. It was supposed to be sarcasm as to all the welding posts before but come across wrong. you cant weld a ferrus to a non ferrus metal with any luck. Pictures will be posted before during and after. Bring on the snow.

Make sure that you have some sort of fixture to hold it in if you are bonding it... like a lathe.. You want as near zero run-out at the sprocket end our you will be seeing belt failure.

Actually, aluminum is currently being welded to steel in the 2013 Honda Accords being built here in this Country.

From page 39 in the December issue of SNOWTECH

"HONDA DEVELOPS WELDING TECHNOLOGY for DISSIMILAR METALS"

Friction Stir Welding (FSW) Allows for Steel to be welded to Aluminum

Perhaps the Polaris guys could request a tour of the Honda Plant here in the U.S. where it's currently being done.
