Check this out. Ride along.......

What was it? BIG nitrous motor, kinda looked like a fox-body mustang from the inside. 6.80's? What class do you run? Did you go to the Nightfire Nationals in Boise? I hitched a ride with a buddy and spent the weekend, too much fun! Not just watching the passes, but walking through the pits and seeing guys tear down all-aluminum big-blocks down to a bare block and re-assemble in 30 min with ease.

Cool video!!!
Sounds good too. This year my sled has been put on hold till next year so I got a chance to take a big block ford down the strip a couple of times.

doing low 9's at 148 was pretty amazing as well. Oh and the air here is about 7000 feet and worse consistently.

Car in the video is running a BBC on juice. My ride I run a 724 cubic inch BBC motor 1540hp naturally asperated (no nitrous.) I run Top Sportsman, which is a door car only class. To qualify for T/S your car must run 8.19 or quicker to make the 32 car field. I run Top Fire @ Nighfire and the Top Gun shootout @ the Holloween Classic in Boise, along with the Top Sportsman Divisional there. Firebird Raceway in Boise, is a great place to race.:face-icon-small-hap

Is your class heads up or bracket?

Hummmm... 724... Chevy to boot.... Thats a lot of mass swinging inside that "big"block. Whats the air like where you race? I ask because there are a few door slammers running low 8's and high 7's here in mt. They all have beautiful chassis that cost more then my house! Kinda like yours in your avatar.

Sledding must seem cheap compared to your other hobbie huh?

I haven't raced the track in Acton Mt, but I've heard it's a really nice strip. Depending where I'm racing, I'm generally in about 2500ft of air, Boise is usually around 4500ft. I know the strip in your neck of the woods is at around 6800ft, which is brutal on robbing HP. Yeah snowmobiling is a considerably cheaper hobby than drag racing. I have right at $130,000 into my car, then my hauler another $300,000 plus tools, golfcart, support equipment etc. Here in a couple more years my daughters will be ready to head of to College and all my toys will be going towards their education, so I'm enjoying it while lasts........ Lol T/S is a fast bracket class.

I thought I've seen that car before! How did you guys do? That was an awesome few days of racing! Might have been a little hot, but good weather other than that. My buddy is working on a 33' Ford sedan with a blown small-block in it, little-M block, 8-71, ported Edelbrock heads, ~750 hp on pump gas, obviously a pulley swap and racegas up's the fun factor, but should be a fun prostreet car! Firebird is a great place, might see you there this year, only this time we'll be racing!:) Good luck!

Awesome car you got there. I used to Drag Race myself. I miss it for sure... Never ran anything fast as 6.80 though.. wow. I was in the 10+ sec 1/4 miles.. lol.

Thanks! My first drag car was a tubbed 70 split bumber Camaro. Had a little 461 roller motor in it and I ran 10.30's with it and had a blast. Then came many different cars from 9's,8's,7's, and now 6's. Unfortunetely my wallet won't let me go any faster or I would...... Lol:D

Dooski that is a beautiful car! The track in acton or billings is hot and dry but the track is really smooth. On my sled I can't feel the concrete to asphalt switch and most cars can't either.

6.80's is an understatement about being a fast bracket.

Looks like fun.

Makes me just a little jealous! My old 71 Nova was pretty quick, but NOTHING like that. God, I miss it.
