CHEAP!!! XP vent kit.

There all these nice XP vent kits out there but what about just drilling some holes (mark it all out in a nice pattern). Do this on the front for cold air intake and the back for hot air exit. Then on the cold air intake just glue some pre-filter material on the back side to prevent power getting though and getting the clutches wet. Anyone tried it?

These vents cost me about $4 duckies!

Did my 06 X couple weeks ago. Drilled holes in a predetermined pattern. I think it was pet screen I bought at Lowes. Did a double layer of screen just to make sure no water could splash through to the clutch. Just put a bead of silicone around all the holes and the outside perimeter of the screen and layed it on. Works Great. Belt stayed much cooler. It was kinda funny when I went riding with some XP's and saw the front of their hoods all drilled out from the factory.

THose look nice. Did it help with belt heat?

They work great. All you have to do is place your hand over the vents and you'll feel the heat PRONTO! I put the vents up high based on the theory that heat rises. I'm still looking to add some in the front of the panel, but I'm a little worried about snow getting in and slipping the belt.
