cheap lodging in northern bighorns???

NO!!! Not until April. The Western in Ranchester is cheaper but driving up and down everyday sucks and there is no place to eat. Arrowhead is the cheapest on the hill but you end up going to Bear to eat anyway. High Country is very high priced but at least they rolled their meals into the room rate. I don't like the idea of paying $5.00 a gallon for old stale fuel either.

I have not been to the Bighorns for some time but.
If your staying in Burgess Junction you have three options. Arrowhead, Elk View lodge, or the Bear Lodge. I thought the Elk View was the better of the three as far as the rooms, beds etc.

I've been checking also and it looks like Arrowhead, Elk View lodge, or the Bear Lodge. Last year we stayed at high country and it was very affordable but now that meals are included we probably won't be going there.

You must be in the wrong section, this is for poor people! We stayed there last year for three nights and our bill was over $900 dollars! That was for three of use with "sort of meals"! Breakfast was real bad and supper was ok but not enough of it. The three of us were very dissatisfied with what we got for our money. We liked the idea of being on the good side of the hill but really missed Bears food and gas. I would like to stay over there again but the old gas and food issue along with their 18% gratuity added to the entire bill really turned me off.

I will throw in a plug for elk view,my first time there and for the most part very satisfied, nice spacious clean rooms, the entire staff were flat out nice easy going respectful people, the bar keeps you full, the ribeye I had left a little to be desired, good flavor but more fat than meat, our second nite we ate supper at bear lodge and the quality blew elk view out of the water by a long shot, all in all the elk is very good bang for your buck!

Did that come with Vaseline? Actually Corey had the stay three nights one being a Monday - Thursday and get one free. Four of us stayed in the elk cabin for a $125 a night total and got one night free. That is the rustic cabin that has two bunk beds in it and a heater. A little tight quarters but it worked. We brought our own food and snacks. I think we got out of there for less than $400 total.

He must have like you better than me! Added an automatic 18% gratuity on the bill.....room,gas, and food. We brought our own stuff for lunch because we are out all day, so we just had some cold re-heated eggs in the morning and a little casserole at night, no drinks brought our own.

They used to rent those little ones that had a bed and a heater, no bathroom but you had a light bulb! They may have been condemned and deemed not fit for human habitation. I know they were supposed to tear some of them down back before Bear bought the place.

we had to stay in one of those cabins for a night do to a overbooking or room issue, we had 6 guys crammed into cabin , 1 light bulb, heater was to hot or to cold, ,good thing we had some booze with to get through the night, crazey night, Good thing we got into a motel room at bear for the rest of trip.

Bear?

Is Bear a chef that worked in Angelfire NM 10- 12 years ago. Close to ski town Angelfire? Somebody else?
