Always look for gear closeout sales of last years gear, its a great way to get high quality gear at a lower price. Also, its the season of snow shows... usually vendors sell last years gear at blowout prices. Get to one and shop around if you can. That would also give you a chance to try it all on vs. buying blind online.

I also agree, don't skip out on boots and gloves. You'll be pretty bad off in the backcountry or on the trail or wherever if your feet and hands are numb.

I have a pair of klim bibs and jacket I would sell for 400 for the pair
They are used last season in great great shape
Was riding in -15 and didn't even feel cold

solar blanket

Good gear can save your life, but if you can't afford it starting out buy some solar blankets. They will help if you get stranded.
