Chatter Creek in April?

I have been looking into Chatter Creek for an April trip. I talked to jodi up there about it a little bit. The riding up there looks awesome. It looks like its not open to snowmobiling until April 5th. I was wondering how big the area is and how many days it takes you to cover the area. Any input or suggestions?

Chatter creek is a huge area!! The drive in from golden in the month of april will be around 1hr & 45min roughly 65kms or more. The road really softens up in the spring. Pot holes & mud holes. Parking is very limited, HIGHLY recommended deck only. The parkin lot supports mayby 3 -5 20ft trailer setups, the rest is on the side of the narrow loggin road. The trail in is only 10-15kms (30min) Just as a side note it has happened during winter and summer you get avalanches and mudslides that will take the road out or block it. This is a self rescue situation most the time as there is not alot of maintenance, ppl have been left there for 2 days or so depending on numbers. Chatter lodge typically takes over maintenance of the road after 45km if i am not mistaken as there is nothing beyond this point.

The good parts are though like i said its huge, the snow base there is 25+ft, more than revy i would say. Tons of pow and has every riding condition possible, monster hill, chutes, bowels, crazy tree work, meadows, lakes, etc. It is endless up there. As it is a ski operation there are cat trails heading all over the place. These are not normal cat trails, worse than logging roads, to the point on some turns you stop and pyshically lift the back end around to make the turn.

Bottom line question how many days to ride the area..... good luck with that. And yes april 5th is the opening day. i think they even have a closing day. Note you can ride up there anytime of the season but must stop in and find out what the designated areas are to ride during cat skiing season.
