changing tunnel on apex

One of the easier tunnel changes there is, and the motor stays in. I started at 10 am and was done at 8 pm, and that was taking my sweet time.

exhaust ,seat, tank, sideplastic, chaincase, drivers, skid, track,need to be removed and the engine can stay in .

Anyone that has installed a Cr racing tunnel.....is it pretty straight forward?What kind of rivets do they include with the kit? Are the rivet holes pre-drilled??

I don't think the rivet holes are drilled. And mine was installed with pop rivets

The rivets Chad sends with hios tunnel are quality rivets very expensive and you need a air rivet gun to break them. Also his tunnels are top notch with a very easy install just takes time. they are also almost indestructible except for large cliffs or solid objects at high speed. There are pilot holes to getyou lined up then from there create your own new holes.

Will (Lethbridge Yamaha & Marine) He doesn't work there anymore. Noob can get you his phone #(after the bast#rd gets back from sleddin that is!!:mad:

must be nice to have a job were you can go when ever....lol.....poor noob can't stick up for himself right now...lol

Rivets

Are aluminum/aluminum structural rivets strong enough? Does anybody have the specs on what the factory rivets are? Plan on doing the swap within a couple weeks!!:beer;

No they are not strong enough,don't even consider them. You need a 3/16" zinc plated steel rivet with a steel pull.

Does this type of rivet present a corosion problem - or should I be looking at solid type rivets, like Van Amburg sells

I wouldnt say indestructable mine is cracked both sides where the tip up starts behind the seat must be from carrying gas can.Whats best way to stop this drill a hole at the end of crack,weld it and rivet reinforcement on there?

How much gas are you carrying? 5 gallons? Thats 40 lbs. Might want to take it easy on the bumps!!:beer;

No corosion probs with the zinc plating. IMO the solid rivets are overkill. They look nice but they are a pain to install. No one will ever see the rivets under the fuel tank anyways.
