Changing top end, compfusion mounts, billet crossmember.

Torn stock front LH mount, Rear RH bolts that hold the mount backed out about 2mm, both of them.. Lots of wear on the metal part of mount, must hacve been like that a long time.

My pic is of the clutch side rear of motor.. I noticed it looks like black oil is stained on it, saw a drip on a rear bolt of that area,,, back of motor compartment has this spitting of oil,, all the way to mag side, and clutch side. Doesn't seem like like it is coming from crank seal,, almost like out of the hole the reverse option bolts to.. ? Anyone seen this before ? a vent around that area that spits ?

..

Ya.. the oil is coming from the Exh. Valves..

No real big deal.. Just looks messy.. Engine Cleaner, Or Carb Cleaners Works Great to Clean it off..

You can reroute the hose Buy a longer onr.. and make it so it runs out of the sled.. option one option two.. Better for the environment and Kool look.. Run it too a Small Bottle.. AKA 5 Hour Energy Bottle.. Dump it may be twice a season..

Hope is helps...

Maybe it is from crank seal.. little staining on front part of motor.. This is slight,, nothing that leaks,, just when motor is out i noticed greasy substence.. Does crank seal weep a little ?

Sled runs great, plugs nice color,etc.. Changing to 06 pistons,, for reliability.

IMO... at this point... don't be in a rush to slam it back together...

Clean clean clean it... FBF cable, set TPS, make sure upgrades are done... check all the steering gear and lube where able, Make sure that the rear mounts sit against the rear tabs on the motor without the need to "crank down" the rear bolts to suck in the difference... flush the coolers with clean water and then blow them out. check all the hoses/clamps wiring harness should be SUPER carefully inspected and checked for chaffing wrapped/protected where needed. Leave out the lower recoil housing bolts...

This stuff will pay off in dividends of great reliable use.

i would just bypass your exhaust valves, plug them at the valve on the cylinder...leave the ex. valve solenoid in place and plugged in, but junk the rubber hoses..this will prevent the oil like you have on your cases...

BUT trust me, no matter what you do, your engine will look like hell every season when you pull it out of the chassis, lol.

What I did was connected the EV and anti freeze over flow together and ran a hose so everything drains under my sled. Finally got that all cleaned up and then the exaust y pipe bolts came loose and made another mess.

Using some washers that are mentioned in that thread to hold those in.

These are pics of my 05 pistons, cylinders are now off and look great. I did see a slight maring on one piston about 1/4 in. wide that i could feel with my nail. The cylinder was fine in that location.

Strange: When i bought this sled, 2 yrs ago at very end of season, 1,100 mi. I took it for a 150 mile ride on my lake for a long weekend, then packed it away for summer, months later i decided to paint the pipe, i looked in exhaust ports and saw nasty aluminum streaking,, kinda like the bad pics i see in this forum.. i took a chance and said heck w/ it, and got ready for last year begining of season. i did 1,200 miles and ran good.
So i got all my parts ready and cracked her open this weekend,, CYINDERS ARE CLEAN, SHINNY W/ NICE HONE MARKS VISIBLE !!!! Whats up with that ?????????? I was shocked, excited cause i thought for sure i needed cylinders re-done and that is $$$$ i don't want to spend.
I used Amsoil Dominator all season, and switched to Amsoil Intimidator last ride of season.
Maybe previous owner got her hot ? Or was it still breakin in and that black streaking was that layer Polaris puts on the pistons ??????

What do you guys think of my Piston tops from the pics ? Rich/lean ?

10.5 mpg.

TPS set CLOSED: .714 IDLE: .93 My homemade TPS tool is 5.98 resistance,, i know out of sync by .01,,,, figured it was ok.. kinda wondered if since off by .01,,,, the .714 is really .713 ?? Comments ____

Question: If rider A had set at .714,,,,,,,, And rider B had set at .700

Is rider A richer fuel mix than B ? If i am thinking right, rider A is richer....

My thought on why .714,, which is high on our snowest spec., would be ok for me. : I drilled some holes in my stock air box by the front vent which i will screen up,,,(Im michigan trail, don't get allot of fluff over or on hood),, i am runnning leaner due to this.. (Have dyno chart which one test was no box stright off throttle bodies,, lean condition),, so with me doing this hole thing in box,, and at .714 kinda balances out...
I used to race AMA motorcross,, and when i would have the bike air box workx,, the bike would be re-jetted larger,, goes back to 14:1 fuel mix with that extra volume.

Idk but if I had a ride at 10.5 mpg and it hasn't blown up I wouldn't change a thing :face-icon-small-coo

Putting cylinders on,,,, my 06 pistons came w/ rings on the pistons.. i just put on cyclinder on and thought,, oh, am i suppose to check ring gap ?
My Nicacil cylinders were in great shape,, hone marks still visible.. kinda wondering if i was to check gap,, why polaris put rings on pistons in the box.. ?

Feedback ? Do they have them gap'd to stock spec ?

Like I said just did mine Sunday...:face-icon-small-hap

Mountainhorse suggested I check mine so I removed them from the pistons being careful not to mix them up or swap top for bottom etc. and did the check. All four rings were just below the high tolerance side. Manual says .016" to .022" and mine were all between .020" and .021"
