Changing Bars on Nytro

A buddy of mine looked in to this last year on his new MTX and everyone said no don't do it. I was curious with all you guys out there has anyone figured out if this can be done. All the info I found says that you can't change the handwarmers due to the EFI.

Is this true or can it be done????

Thanks
DW

I don't see why you couldn't change them. You would need to purchase new replacement hand warmer elements from Yamaha (Spendy) but don't see where it would be a problem.

I changed mine and put on RX1 heaters....they actually heat up (you reading this yamaha canada) no problems here....go for it.

Changed my grips and bars. Warmers are better but I don't remember which brand and the bars are night and day. Pro taper pastrana fmx. Very needed.

So what would you guys think about running a different warmer, something better then those not warm Nytro heaters. I see you guys say to go with the RX-1, would you stick with yamaha branding or could I go with something like RSI has, as long as the ohms are the same it should be fine right???

I put 06 Apex bars on mine and the warmers work great. Didn't work for crap on the Apex but now I have to turn them down. Go figure..

I personally really like the rubber Hot Grips. They are very sticky and get hot, even on aluminum bars. I had them on Fly bars and ran them on low most of the time.

I'd be interested to see some pics of some other Nytro bar set ups. I have been thinking about cleaning up the bars for a fall project. I don't mind the bars themselves, but there's just too much big plastic stuff up there for trees to rip off for my tastes. (I lost the kill switch button right off the bat.)

I'd like a one piece brake/res./ebrake, a flipper, a super small button for reverse, relocate the grip warmer and hi beams to the panel and that's it.

As far as parts,
Got a tether with the turbo, goodbye kill switch.

I've used a CR Racing billet throttle, it's a little big compared to a stock one but is ok if you can keep the C clips on the pin holding the flipper.

I haven't looked at billet brakes, any recommendations? I'd lose the extra e-brake by the rotor.

I loved the reverse button on my XRS, it's a doo race pipe preheat button supposedly. Small enough that you couldn't fall forward and hit the button by accident, zip tied to the bars. I might get one and try it on the Nytro.

For grip heater switches, I don't have a problem with cold hands, I'd just like to mount a small switch on the panel close to the risers. Would any rocker that returns to the neutral position still work the incremental heaters the same?
Something small and matching for beams, I don't use them much anyway.

The results would be clean, light, durable for the occasional gentle roll and hopefully a little more tree resistant!:beer;

My Nytro has a lever for reverse???

all nytos equipped with reverse have that damn lever!!!!!

It is a mechanical reverse.

I have broken two levers so far!!!!!!

I really like the Skinz Protective Gear Bars... (SPG)

www.skinzprotectivegear.com

The best angle I have used yet... AND it has a built in mount for the moutain grab strap instead of some jurry rigged looking U-bolt clamp on bar. Makes for a cleaner look.

I am NOT a dealer for SPG nor do I have any of these bars to sell..

This is simply a FYI about a good product that I use.

SPG is a quality driven company that has taken the time to answer a lot of questions on the phone and has come up with some great products.

http://www.skinzprotectivegear.com/snowmobileproduct.html

They currently have 2" and 4" rise bars with or without bar hooks and, which I think is great... at my request built in mounts for Mountain grab straps.

They will have 6" 8" and 10" rise bars available in August for you guys planning your summer projects.

Available in Black, Blue, Red, Green, Yellow, Orange

These bars are very high quality with deep knurling in the clamp area, all cromoly construction with 5 degree rise and 7 degree sweep for perfect stand up riding feel.

There are a few different vendors on the 4M here that sell the SPG products... give em your business!!

SPG's full line of bars...These show the hooked bars, available as straight bars, without hooks, as well

Great for the M-S and Dragons / Assault No extra Block riser needed.

Top to bottom 10", 8", 6", 4", 2"
