Changing a Rail

Whats the easiest way to change out a rail on a M-10.Skid is still in the sled. Can I just unbolt the rail from the suspension or will it mess things up even more.

I just did it on my King cat. It was pretty easy. Just jack up the back, and unbolt everything on that side, and then remove the rail. There are a couple of bolts that have to come all of the way through, and you have to remove the rear axle.

It's a good oportunity to grease those articulating parts that don't have zerks.

an impact hammer makes taking the bolts out of the one side easier. Just zip them off...

Not sure if takes longer or not..

But I'd take out the skid. Hardest part might be finding a match for your M-10. Skid can be dropped in 5 min. or less. Reinstall longer, but still like 15 min. Good time to inspect everything while your there.

Just going to fix a bent rail again. They are flimsy and might have to have a piece made to reinforce it.

Little tricky going back together.Took both sides off and had them reinforced, never took tension off springs or anything so not sure if the would have made it easier or not.
