Chain tensioner

My last Cat was a 2010 M8, joining the great Alpha experiment for this season. I remember reading about automatic chain tensioners failing on this chassis. Is this a dead issue now?

On my 14, tensioner was loose.
When i put hyvo gears, i set the tensioner tighter. 2,500 miles on sled.
My 18, 1,000 miles never opened the case.

So the tensioner on your 14 didn't work well and the 18 may be no better.

same up to 19. I have not seen one fail but I all way put in the manual one even on my 19.

The tensioner is so easy to adjust if it doesn't adjust automatically.
My 18 was always tight, therefore i didn't need to open the case.

I had a super slang issue with my 2018 HC 153. The chain ate a good 3/8 into a shoulder inside the chain case within 150 miles.

I believe the cheapest option if to get the Yamaha viper parts or cat 7000 parts. They also come with a roller wheel compared to a wear pad like the aftermarket parts
