hey..

Any one else look at this.. looks like it is a very short hose only 1 foot or so..

Thinkin if you roll your sled over and it's on the hood for a little bit.. it will slowly drain the chaincase oil out!!

just a thought... we may want to longer hose with a loop in it...

To cut down on chain case oil leaking....

Any ideas..

Thanks matt

There is not that much oil in the chaincase and it would just go to the top which has now become the bottom and even if you took the hose off it would only drip one little tiny drip. It usually has a labrinth inside the cover that prevents much from escaping. I don't think you have to be too worried.

Inverted boys... Inverted.... it is the only way to ride!!

So I rolled my sled up on the right side to install a skid plate (even though they said left) and by the time I got done all my chaincase oil was on the floor! What if I roll out on a mountain and can't get to my sled and get it over very quickly? Do I risk that and run it the rest of the day or home with minimal or no oil?? This seems to be a flaw. Did anyone come up with a fix for this since this first post?

Yer cover gasket or upper oil seal leaks. There is also an o-ring on the jackshaft that seals on the spacer - inspect that that is still in place. I'm betting that it didn't come out of the vent - hydrostatic pressure and gooey oil film friction wouldn't allow the case to bleed out...usually.

Like MH, I inspect my track several times a ride to make sure that all the lugs are present and to check IFS spring preload.

Rolled yesterday and got right over to my sled and a ton came out in that short of period of time. Definitely coming out of the vent hose. What now?

Remember when you were a kid (or maybe yesterday) you would put your straw down in a glass of pop and then suck the pop up and then put your finger over the top of the straw, then pull the straw out. The pop stays in the straw until you let go, right? I know this sounds stupid but wouldn't the same apply here? What ever oil is coming out by gravity has to be replaced with air or oil somewhere else. Unless of course you have too much oil in there which could build up pressure and force the oil out. 9 oz max.
I think you have an air leak some where in the chain case. We have had our sleds upside down over the years and have never had this problem. $.02

Ya, I agree. I'll take it in. It's under warranty, and that is what that is in my book :face-icon-small-win
