Chain case oil....how much and how full?

There should be a region on the dipstick reading (safe). Hopefully someone will chime in with the exact number of ounces

There is not a dipstick on the Pro. When i changed oil in the 2011, earlier this fall, it took right at 8 oz to fill it up to the threads in the fill hole. Interestingly enough, my 2012 Pro only had 4 oz in it from the factory. Dealer did not catch it...sure glad i did! I added another 4 oz to bring it up to the correct level.

No dipstick on the Pro, fill to spill, aprox 9oz, according to Polaris Service Manual, 85w90 Synthectic gear oil.

Apparently the factory doesn't feel it takes much to keep it lubed. My factory fill was about 1/4" from the bottom of the filler hole. I filled mine to the top of the fill plug hole as stated in the manual.

No dipstick?? Boy they are shaving weight EVERYWHERE!
Not much weight savings there...lol
I dont see the need for a dipstick...Just unscrew the fill plug. If the oil level is into the thread area, but not running out (on fairly level ground - of course) you are good to go.

Not enough oil in the '12's.

Bringing this back up becasue I found the same thing. Just got a new '12 Pro and same thing. Only about 4 oz of oil in the chaincase. Probably not a huge deal, doesn't take that much to keep the chain wet, but it was also very heavy oil like gear lube, so I gotta think that by the time a guy spins her up and the oil sligns and sticks everywhere, the chain may not be getting run through an oil bath at the bottom.
Replaced it with Amsoil chaincase oil because that was the best stuff I had on hand. Filled up close to 10oz before it spilled out.
FInd it funny that not only did they only fill it less than 1/2 full, but used such heavy weight oil. Not accustomed to that in chain cases. Always told lighter, the better.

I have a 2012 pro rmk and i just changed mine and it says 9 oz is the amount you should put in which is about half way up the threads on the fill hole

I couldn't find the dip stick on my 2013 Pro either.:face-icon-small-con
Just poking fun. (At myself)
Anyway the recommended capacity is 9 ounces.
I am not saying I am right here, but I was told the sleds are shipped dry. No fluids.
This is the dealers responsibility I was told. :scared:

Oh and FWIW, the suspension wasn't greased for chit either before it left the dealer. Rear skid took a bunch of grease before it was full. Pushed out a bunch of water from last year. But I know the dlr didn't do chit to it except bolt the skis on. Called them after I bought the sled (used) to ask a few general questions and they told me "no need to run any oil in the first tank. We don't do that any more, sleds are fine right out of the box."
BTW, any grease zerks up front on these Pros or just the rear skid?
