Ceramic Coating XP Pipe

Is there any advantage to this, besides the whole weight savings that you may save. I am interested in doing it, but just wondering who has and what they thought of it. I know i could buy an aftermarket exhaust, but that will come in time. Thanks

do not

not advisable, "hot pipe is a happy pipe", i heard that somewhere. you would loose weight but also heat-and power. you might say thats what the ceramic is for. yes but how much heat can a thin coating of ceramic hold compared to a 1/8" thick asbestos pad covered with aluminum?

Yes thats just it. Some beleive that it will run better when hot but why it it generally your first climb the coldest one is the best. I am not looking for huge gains by ceramic coating, just dont want it to fall on its face. I dont think it would though. Every opinion is great to hear.

falling

seemed like my xp fell on its face halfway up the hill every time last year with a dyno prort ceramic single y pipe and can, i hear it is caused by the single ring piston making blow by

Swain Tech is the answer

I have had 3 pipes "White Lighting" coated by Swain Tech, all Doo's all different years including a 800R and it is worth every penny. Drops under hood temps dramatically and brings that stock pipe to LIFE. Also coated the Y-pipes on all three sleds, and will do a 08 and a 09 next month. The key is to use the stock pipe and to Have Swain Tech use their ceramic coating, it is about 0.015" thick.

meh....

The pipe will stay hotter with the stock setup.

What are you going to save...5lbs maybe?

Cold engine + hot pipe = power

If you have a custom pipe and want to keep it warm, then ya ceramic is really your only option. On a stock pipe I can't see why you would do it.

i've been told by several dealers in my area to stick with the stock pipe but remove the insulation around it and then have it ceramic coated. they also suggested doing the same to the y-pipe. anyone have an explanation and/or pro's vs. cons?

I'm interested in hearing these opinions.

I'm having this done to my Poo pipe & Y right now (already have SLP can). Waiting for it to come back but I was hesitant to ship it off. I'm hoping for less rust, weight & under-hood heat.

I bought the SLP straps as well to "reduce harmonics and the tinny sound".

We have had Scott at HPS do 2 of our '09s and an '04 pipe and y-pipe. Works great! Helps the pipe retain the heat. Had it on the '04 since day one and have over 200 miles on the '09s and they all run great! It is hard to beat the performance of a stock skidoo pipe, that's why we just have the stock pipe and y-pipe coated.
