Central California

On a serious note:

This big storm is making everbody pretty excited... A good base and the good stuff on top of it....

A LOT OF SNOW IS COMING!!

AVALANCHE RISKS WILL BE CONSIDERABLE!

Make sure you wear your beacon and If you don't own one, BUY IT!

How bad would you feel if you couldn't find your friend/family that got buried... and died because you couldn't find him/her??

Rule for the beacon: Don't have it in your pack...

PUT IT ON, TURN IT ON..... TAKE IT OFF, TURN IT OFF.

Do a check of everyone in your group of their beacon before leaving the parking lot.

If someone in the group does not own a beacon, pressure them into buying one... your life could be on the line if he/she does not have a beacon.

Read up on the use of your beacon, buy brand new batteries for it... get good ones, your life may depend on it .

Have a look at this primer on Beacon use:
http://www.backcountryaccess.com/english/education/documents/aviawarenessguide.pdf

If you have a really old beacon, more than 5 or 6 yrs.... consider getting a new one.

Keep your shovel & probe in your pack, not on your sled.

Read up on beacon useage... there is a lot of info out there.

Just because you own a beacon, dont assume you can use it.... do some practice drills with friends.

Also, on the trail... be aware of what is above you... even a small slide can bury you real deep on a trail at the bottom of a hill.

Get the "tracker 101" use DVD, a great idea.

Free beacon clinics on the 1st and 15th of each month at Squaw...

AVALANCHES KILL PEOPLE.... MORE SNOWMOBILERS THAN ANY OTHER SINGLE GROUP!!

STAY SAFE OUT THERE FOLKS!

awesome friday/saturday ride! on friday, 12 of us hit iron and upper bear-island lake. the chutes above bear-island are insane and we've never really climbed in there before. billygoat and BK went OFF! some of the best footage we've ever shot for a movie that afternoon. for everyone worried about the durability of the new XP revs needs to see the footage of billygoat's pull that didn't work out so good. a tumbled through rock-lined chutes and a 50 foot western white pine couldn't hurt the XP (luckily no pinecones were involved.) BK's last-minute, full-throttle bail out around the tree was KILLER!

satruday we did one of the most grueling and difficult (yet totally fun) boondocks i've ever ridden. we punched into the trees above the old miner's cabin below area-51 and ran the ridge over to mt. raymond. we dropped into star lakes which was a total booty-pucker 800 foot plunge with only one way out. everybody made it and i was the last one in the hole. it took 6 tries and captain dunbar to lighten my load by taking up my camera-backpack up for me (LOL) but the stocker Nytro got 'er done!

awesome snow...and two great days of riding on new terrain right in our own backyard. great job to all the guys for once again making me say 'holy crappers' while watching through the camera!

can't wait to ride with silvertip, AO, shane, the crew from Utah and all the snowest gang next weekend in tahoe!!!

i'll have pics of the ride up by wednesday (going to disneyland with the family today and tomorrow).

The friday ride was a lot of fun! Im sorry that i couldn't make the trip on Saturday. I love discovering new terrain! With a few more stoms, this could turn out to be a great season after all. I cant wait for the MLK ride next weekend. Gonna be a great time!

NICE Jeff! Went out saturday as well with all the new powder but it was wet heavy sierra cement! Still fun none the less, thanx for the pix!!

oh how sweet it is! Looks like your boyz are starting to get really aggressive in that deep snow! I love it!!!

I know im game for a ride this weekend, should have the turbo buttoned back up and the 1200 ready to go! Plus there should be a decent amount of powder!

I'd like to make the drive up, but I'd like to be set on meeting someone for sure since I'm not familiar w/ the area. I have a 4hr drive up from just south of Bakersfield.

are the races going to make it crowded?
