Cat, Poo or Doo which factory will be the 1st.

I don't see it happening. I think manufactures are already afraid of turbo'ing 4-strokes. I talked to a Yamaha guy a while back. He had a turbo'd Apex, he said Yamaha wanted to turbo it from the factory but they could not see a way that they could keep people from hooking up an MBC (Manual Boost controller), cranking up the boost for **** and giggles. They end up blowing the motor, remove the MBC take it back to Yamaha and want the motor warrantied.

now who would ever do that ???;)

Polaris will be putting their 4 stroke turbo sled in a mountain chassis.
They have to figure out the cooling problem and weight issues.
I think it will be in the neighbor hood of 140-145hp with the turbo.
That is the HP of their current 4 stroke turbo.
I also think it will be in the 520(ish) dry weight.

I have a friend who's Dad is an Engineer for Arctic Cat back in Thief River. He told my friend to tell my brother who is considering an 08 M1000 to hold off till next year. He said it will definetely be worth the wait. He told him the same thing the year before the Arctic Cat Prowler came out when he was going to buy a Rhino. For what its worth.

WOW, now there was some great advice-NOT!

That motor in a 121" dragon makes the sled weigh 580 dry, good luck with a long track at 520.:beer;:)

With all current turbo's offered from the oem's currently being thumpers I do not believe that we will ever see a leaf blower on a 2-stroke. I think the number one reason will be durability and warranty purposes. Sleds are the only widely used machines offered with a warranty that have 2-strokes, the famous banshee had no warranty nor do the mx bikes. I think we will see some very exciting offerings from the oem's in the near future but they will involve thumpers and not 2-strokes.

I agree, I have never seen a 2-stroke OEM Turbo anything, let alone a sled.

My moms, dads, sisters, husbands, father-in-laws, mom said so....:confused::confused::confused:

1000 cc 3 cyl. Yamaha supercharged, probably look similar to a nytro. 175- 180 hp. Maybe bring back the SRX name. Just my guess:)

How about outboard motors???????

I don't think manufactuers will ever have a sled that makes more than 170-180 HP stock. Liability issues. The insurance companies will nail owners with high premiums.
They said that about Jetskis now look 250 H.P.

Are 2 stroke sleds going to end up like 2 stroke outboards and bikes? It seems like they are on they way out. Especially outboards. I dont think you can even buy a 2 stroke outboard in California anymore. I would love to see a 2 stroke turbo from the factory, but I really see the industry going 4 stroke, to appease the greenies and help keep the riding areas open. Also, a factory 4 stroke puting out 170 hp at what ever elevation is most likely to happen, I think. Do they even make a 2 stroke jet ski anymore?

My guess is mountain 4 stroke turbos in the 150 to 170 hp range for consistant hp at any elevation with low boost for reliability. And some sort of black box to monitor boost so if we find a way to increase it, it voids warranty.

Just my thoughts

Ah, I almost forgot how fun the tall tails are when it comes to the classic "coming year lineup" threads.... it's the same thing every year in these threads....

1. At least one guy has an uncle that has a buddy, and their cousin works at Poo/Doo/Cat/Yam and says don't buy a current sled, it will be worth the wait for what is in store for next year, which is always something incredibly amazing.

2. There is ALWAYS supposed to be a 1200cc 2 stroke turbo sled that will weigh 400lbs next year from one of the makes, or so one thinks he heard from yet another reliable uncle's buddies cousin.

What will we most likely relistically see for '09?

Polaris will "run what they brung" this year, again for next year with some standard minor year to year improvements.

Arctic Cat *might* use their new Jaguar chassis in a mountain setup, but I would bet another "run what they brung" kind of thing one more year.

Ski-Doo, they need to get the XP straitened out. Likely, they probably will offer the XP chassis with a 6-700 motor or so.

Yamaha....???? Same old 4 stroke plan but losing an annual 5lbs with coming year model vs. last year's model?

For 2009:

Polaris- Will cut some weight off the current Dragon, and possibly have a 4-stroke turboed RMK

Ski-Doo- Will have the XP's running like they should from the factory, and will have 3 new motors in the XP chassis; A 1000+ twin, a new 600 twin based of the racer with the option of DI, and a new factory supercharged 800cc 4-stroke with around 140 horsepower.

Yamaha- The replacement for the Apex. I expect horsepower to be in the 170 range.

Arctic Cat- Will have a brand new mountain chassis with weight close to the XP's, and juiced up motors, along with a new track.

And I highly doubt we will be seeing a 2-stroke turbo from the factory anytime soon...

Why not? They have bikes with 184 hp stock. I think someone will get there. Don't know who or when, but I think it will happen.

Also there are other turbo's 4-strokes out there. If you could put a manual boost controller on, blow the motor, take it off and try to get the company to pay for it, I would think that would already be happening. There must be a way to check for these things.

I would love to see a stock 4-stroke with a turbo. Would save me from having to put one on myself.

J.

All they would have to do is put a "black box" of sorts on the sleds. It could be used to monitor boost while riding and record it on this box, just like someone else said a few posts up.
